Every year SBA chooses one student to win the Student of the Year. The SBA Student of the Year is involved on campus, fosters community among their fellow classmates, and embodies the Jesuit mission. Join me in congratulating this year’s winner, Danielle Parlich (3L)
Danielle has been extremely involved with the SBA as a representative for her 1L/ 3L years and served as the VP of administration during her 2L year. She is the current president of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association, has captained the slow-pitch team, bowling, AND softball leagues. She also competed in Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Moot Court competition and received 3rd place at the Dallas Regional competition. While this just someone of Danielle’s endless success and contributions to SLU Law, she has continued to be a bright light in SLU Law community throughout her 3 years here as a kind friend, helpful classmate, and engaged student. Today marks the start of Black History Month. Throughout the month, SLU Law’s SBA will honor the accomplishments and contributions of Black Legal Professionals.
Black History Month is an important occasion to celebrate the African diaspora, and the contributions of Black Americans. Hopefully, though, through this celebration and study we can also be aware of the way our profession has compounded the oppression of Black Americans.
Join us this month in celebrating and learning from the experiences and voices of Black Americans.
