LTR K9 Resource is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Our focus is maintaining the success of pets and their families within our local communities.

LTR K9 Resource is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization whose main focus has always been to help pets and families stay successful at home. We work to accomplish this goal in many different ways which can be summarized into three different categories.

1) Community Outreach : We believe that knowledge plays a key role on the path to success. Many families in our area are unaware of resources tha

t may be available to help find lost pets, find families of found pets and even financial assistance for routine and/or emergency medical care.

**First and foremost we share our knowledge: we will always guide people through the process of locating their lost pet, locating the family of a lost pet and then when a pet is reunited we will ask about vet care, offer financial assistance with shots, spay/neuter and microchip implanting as well as correctly registering the microchip after it's implanted. We may also work with families to help determine how/why a pet has escaped and offer assistance to hopefully prevent future adventures.

**In the case of an emergency need we will obtain pictures of the pet, a copy of the emergency care plan as well as an estimate for cost provided by the emergency veterinary hospital. Once we have obtained this information we will do a post specifically to raise funds for the care needed. We do NOT take possession of the pet. We ONLY take responsibility for a portion of the bill based on the amount of funds that are donated through our organization. Once the pet has received care and is released, it is released to the family and goes home with the family. In most cases we NEVER even meet the pet.

2) Lost/Found/Stray Pets: LTR K9 Resource takes much pride in our ability to catch, track sightings and potentially humanely trap lost/found/stray pets in our area. We believe that every pet deserves the opportunity to be offered safety and within a reasonable time frame. No pet is safe running free on our city streets. We accomplish this goal by doing the following:

**Lost pets: If a family reaches out to us about a lost pet we work with the family to guide them through a process to hopefully locate their pet. This will include helping them to make flyers, assisting with hanging those flyers and/or suggesting areas they should hang them. We will ALWAYS make a post on our page about the missing dog to provide greater exposure and share any social media posts to any pages that we feel may reach the most people in the specific area and generate sightings. We do ask that our phone number be placed on the flyer to ensure that we can successfully map out all sightings in an effort to plan appropriate trap, camera and feeding station placement if any of those tools are needed. When successful with finding and catching a lost pet this pet goes directly home to it's family and we NEVER take possession of this pet.

**Found pets: If someone finds a stray pet we will ALWAYS scan that pet for a microchip and provide guidance to the finder to help them locate the family or set up arrangements for the pet to be taken to a local shelter by the finder. We will NEVER take possession of that pet.

**"Stray pets": If we or someone sees a stray pet and that person is unable to catch that pet we will ALWAYS offer assistance.
-We do ask for a plan.
-If the person who sees the pet is able to hold the pet while looking for the family we will help to catch the pet, scan for a microchip and provide guidance to that person to help them to locate the pets family.
- We do NOT take possession of the pet. If the person is not able to hold the pet we reach out to local shelters and rescue organizations to request placement with a stray hold. We have very specific shelters and organizations that we work with due to relationships we have worked hard to build with them. We do NOT catch stray pets that we have not secured an organization for. Personally, I (Scott Bouchard) foster for both Care STL and for the APA in St. Louis and on some occasions, either organization may ask for me to foster one of our found pets allowing them to intake it to their facility. When we do obtain a stray pet that has been secured with a local shelter and/or rescue organization, it is our commitment to them that we will provide vet care to that pet as incentive for the shelter/organization to intake the pet into their facility. Many times when we are working to obtain a stray pet we will request donations which are used for this purpose and NOT because LTR K9 Resource is taking possession of the pet. This helps us to secure the funds to honor our financial commitment to the local shelter/organization. We do NOT post the name of the shelter/organization at this time as it makes it confusing for people to know where to send the donation.

3) Promoting of Adoptable Pets: Several months back we created a new page titled "LTR K9 Resource, The Journey Forward". We did this to help provide further assistance to the organizations/shelters that we work with as a "thank you" to them for taking in ALL of the "stray" pets that we obtain. The purpose of this page is to feature every pet that we have assisted to obtain as "stray", that has remained with a rescue organization/shelter throughout their stray hold time, has gone unclaimed by a family and has been fully vetted and is adoptable through their shelter/organization. Our hope is to help generate interest in these pets and offer the shelter/organization an opportunity to receive more adoption applications for each of them. LTR K9 Resource does NOT, has NOT EVER and WILL NOT EVER process adoptions. LTR K9 Resource does NOT take possession of ANY pets that we assist with.

For several weeks we have (by choice) NOT been a 501c3. Though we have decided to not continue as a charitable organization we still have a handful of mouths to feed while we work to get the last few adopted.

If you’d like to assist with managing a food budget you are welcome to do so. As we are no longer 501c3 your donations will not be tax deductible but will help to keep us going while we continue to close out this chapter.

We are working to get the last few dogs and puppies through to the end of their journey.

This boy has to be one of the cutest and funniest meatheads on the planet!!

Parvo got his name for being a ! As a baby he contracted the horrible virus and survived! Fast forward to today, his dad was in need of helping to get him a current rabies vaccination and a microchip. We covered the cost for the visit, chip and vaccination which came to a grand total of $67.29!

Is it trust? Is it pride in our training? Is it laziness? It it being too comfortable?

Whatever the reason, it’s causing too many dogs to get lost! Too many are lost and too many are found and oddly enough the lost and found pets rarely match up!!

DONT TRUST YOUR DOG! DONT LET YOUR EGO GET IN THE WAY OF REALITY! DONT BE LAZY AND DONT GET COMFORTABLE!

Also, when your dog disappears, that doesn’t mean it was stolen! Most likely it’s one of the reasons above! Treat all missing dogs as lost, not stolen unless you have proof! Treat all found dogs as lost, not dumped unless you have proof!

YOU DONT KNOW EVERYTHING! IN FACT YOU KNOW NOTHING!

Speculation is judgement and judgement denies pets their opportunity to be reunited and causes our local rescue organizations and shelters to continue to be overflowing!

Have a pet? Get it chipped! Found a pet? Have it scanned for a chip! EVERY dog belongs to someone! They don’t just fall out of the sky!

Be responsible! There are two ways to manage the pet population… you ready for it?!?? Spay/Neuter and/or euthanasia! BE RESPONSIBLE!

Everyone who will read this has at least one friend, neighbor, coworker or family member who’s pets aren’t chipped and/or spay/neutered. It’s because they won’t get lost or pregnant until they do!

Rescuing does NOT manage the population!

Y’all know Abbi! She’s been on many adventures in the past it’s taken over a year to take this chick down several notches and still, though I love her to death she will NEVER be trusted!

You’re donations hard at work and so very appreciated!!

Cinna Mon is so thankful that he now has some space to run and play safely while in his backyard! He was so excited to have so much room and to not be stuck in a tiny pen or tied to a tether. He’s a zoomie master!!

Much thanks to all of you for making this happen and another HUGE thank you to Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic for their community outreach and support! This boy is now fully vaccinated, chipped and neutered!!! 🥰

The dog house we brought was a flop! He’s a little bigger than I remembered so if anyone has a large sized dog house that we can place inside his outdoor space please let us now!

One more step to legal!

I’d like to reiterate that while outdoor spaces are not permanent housing for dogs it’s still a requirement that adequate provisions are accessible during use! A shelter appropriately sized for the dog, clean water and adequate space for eating/drinking and relieving themselves while not having to do more than one of those activities in the same area!

Each family that we work with is provided with the education, tools and resources to maintain success!

If the need is not a true emergency and still requires attention, report accordingly within your local municipality and please be patient while waiting for a response!
