Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season.
How will you observe Lent this year?
The Lenten season, a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, begins tomorrow with Ash Wednesday.
Many Catholics make sacrifices or do something extra to grow in faith during this time of year. Lent is also a time in which parishes will offer special activities — a mission or revival, Stations of the Cross, extra times for the sacrament of reconciliation, service opportunities and fish fries — to aid in the Lenten journey.
It’s important to keep in mind the “why” — rather than the “what” — when choosing to pray, fast and give alms during Lent. How are we growing in our relationship with the Lord? How are we actively using this time to share the Good News of Christ with others?
Check out the St. Louis Review's list of ways to incorporate more prayer, fasting and almsgiving into your life this Lent:
Lent starts on Wednesday, which means Fish Fry Fridays are coming soon!
Each year, the St. Louis Review compiles a list of all the Fish Fries in the Archdiocese—check it out now to make your Friday plans ahead of time.

Today, on World Marriage Sunday, we joyfully celebrate a love beyond words shared between a husband and wife in the marital covenant. May their marriages be bright beacons of hope to family members and friends, living reminders of Jesus’ love as they create nurturing homes, wellsprings of hospitality where the warmth of Jesus' love is shared and felt.

The Mass and reception celebrating World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life was this past Sunday. In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted this day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd. Please keep all sisters, brothers and priests in your prayers, as they continue to pray for all of us, as messengers and servants of the peace of Christ.

May we be generous in our forgiveness, just as St. Josephine was to those who enslaved her.
St. Josephine Bakhita, pray for us!
