Now that we have hit spring break time - it is time to think about scheduling your summer physical.
The first thing to do is find out if your insurance allows you to schedule your check up one per calendar year or if it has to be 365 days from your last. If you have new insurance this year - it doesn't matter.
We are currently scheduling through June for well visits. Our July schedule will open up in early April.
Call now to get your kids scheduled!

‘I’m fed up’: Frustrations grow as ADHD drug shortage continues 03/08/2024

ADHD med shortage :

It is extremely frustrating right now to find many ADHD meds .
This article gives some background!

Focalin is EXTREMELY difficult to find in St Louis currently and many pharmacies are reporting that it will not be available until May.
We would suggest you look at your insurance formulary and get a list of the stimulants covered PRIOR to calling us to ask for alternative meds .

‘I’m fed up’: Frustrations grow as ADHD drug shortage continues The supply of Adderall has improved, but other brand name and generic medications, such as Ritalin, are still hard to come by, doctors say.

Updates on treatment:

You may be surprised to learn that there have been updates on duration of therapy for infections with antibiotics.
The most common bacterial infection that we have traditionally treated with 10 days of antibiotics is ear infections. This has changed. If your child is 2 or above, he/she will likely be treated with 5-7 days of antibiotics. The recommended course is still 10 days if your child is under 2 years of age.
Changes have also occurred with many other bacterial infections so be aware that you may be told of a different regimen that you have become accostomed.

CDC drops 5-day isolation guidance for Covid-19, moving away from key strategy to quell infections | CNN 03/05/2024

New recommendations: no need for 5 day isolation period with Covid at this point.
Most of the US population has some immunity against Covid and, as a result, the country is no longer seeing large waves of infections, hospitalizations and deaths from the coronavirus. Instead, these have turned into smaller, more predictable bumps in transmission in the summer and winter as the nation reaches a kind of steady state with the virus.

Therefore, stay home until 24 hours fever free without medication and symptoms are improving.

As many parents have found - there are a lot of med shortages . Additionally it is a new year so formularies change .

Please plan ahead and request medication refills 5-7 days in advance . If your formulary has changed and the chronic medication your child has been taking is no longer on formulary , please look up the online formulary and find out what options are covered prior to calling us .

Controlled scripts can not be refilled more than a few days before they are due for refill however , with the shortages , if you can get in the queue with the pharmacy, you can begin searching for it .

Thank you !

01/05/2024

Attention:

It is a new year which means EVERY patient needs to have a new insurance card on file .

Please bring new insurance card to each visit!
