OMG, I spent 1.5 HOURS reading up on dog colors and hair patterns last night. Nothing I read about really resembles or describes Laide's coat. Her coat is so evenly mottled. This is NOT like ticking that you see in an ACD. What I've settled on today is that she has banded hair. That is where EACH STRAND of hair has 3 colors to them. It always threw me off as not possible because they say that it's hair that's black tipped, and she has no black in her. But I finally found one that mentioned liver colored dogs (which would include reds). Both parents would have to carry the gene, which explains why her pups didn't get a changing coat with this pattern, at least not that I heard of. When I pull her coat backwards, you can see the banding quite clearly.
