Malnutrition is real. Too real. 50% of children in our region in DR Congo suffer from acute malnutrition. In the last two weeks, we have had a major influx of severely malnourished children. At this moment, our 74 bed pediatric ward has 140 patients of which most are suffering from acute malnutrition. Our Story
Since our teen years, Kathy and I (Tim) have felt God’s call to overseas missions. However, it wasn’t until later in our lives when God opened the doors and made that a reality. Our heart for Congo started through the ministry of our church, New City Fellowship. Our church in St. Louis had many Congolese members who attended. God also inspired our passion for Congo through our acquaintance with the late Dr. Dan Fountain and many other International Ministries missionaries here in the DRC. Both of us served on many short-term missions trips to Vanga Evangelical Hospital which strengthened our love for the people and opened our eyes to how God wanted to use our experience and gifting to show His love here in Vanga.
The Vision of Congo Health Connection is to train the next generation of Congolese doctors and nurses in Christ-centered, whole-person care, empowering them to use the limited resources available to restore life and health across the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Our desire is to facilitate worldwide partnerships, enabling health professionals to participate in mutual exchange of expertise at the Vanga Evangelical Hospital and elsewhere in the DRC. We would love to have you join us either short-term or long term!
