Now that the semester is back in full swing, it's likely that some people are starting to feel overwhelmed. Here are some quick tips deal with that feeling:
1. Take a deep breath and pause for a moment when you feel especially stressed and overwhelmed. Sometimes just breathing can help you re-center.
2. Focus on the task at hand and try your best not to think about the other things you need to do. Usually if we can just focus on what's in front of us, the overwhelmed feeling tends to decrease.
3. Talk with someone you trust about how you're feeling. We recommend that you don't spend a ton of time complaining, rather focus on the feelings that you're experiencing and consider brainstorming possible solutions.
4. Take a break from whatever it is that's making you feel overwhelmed. do something fun, have a snack, talk with a friend, or spend some time with a pet. We recommend that you don't avoid the tasks since that can lead to more stress, but taking a break can help you refocus so you can keep working.
