“Grease the Musical” is giving our students the chance to challenge themselves and have fun as actors, singers and dancers! Some of our summer production’s cast members include Cate Conway-Brandt (Sandy), Adonis Caldwell (Sonny), and Yazlyn Rodriguez (ensemble). These three have all acted in school productions before, but they are enjoying the new experiences “Grease” has provided them. They are excited to welcome the public to their shows!
Cate has loved musical theater ever since listening to the “Hamilton'' soundtrack in her 5th Grade year. She took one of the lead roles in “Grease” after previous acting experience at Lincoln High School and as Wednesday Addams in “The Addams Family” for Don Riggio School, which was her first major performance. Adonis became involved in theater more recently, giving his first performance in “The Jack Tales" this past school year, but knew from his first monologue that he enjoys acting. Yazlyn also made her theater debut with "The Jack Tales," and as a lifelong dancer, she has enjoyed finding another way to express herself on stage.
Cate, Adonis and Yazlyn are all enjoying the mix of singing, dancing and acting that “Grease” provides. They appreciate that all of the play’s major characters grow and change, and they look forward to showing this musical to fans of the film since there are several differences between the two.
These three LHS Trojans encourage members of our community to see a show and support all our performing arts students and staff. They will take the stage for their first public performance this Friday, July 5, and they hope to see you there!
LHS Trojan Anthony Moore is a valuable asset to our boys basketball team, and his skill and dedication to the sport have brought him multiple offers from Division I universities. Congratulations to Anthony, and many thanks to Recordnet.com for sharing his achievements with our community!

Our football captains are ready for a fantastic fall 2024 season! Terrence Hampton, Julian Perez, Morrvan Pierro and Da’Veon King are determined to make it to their sections and league games this year, all while becoming united with their teammates.
These four Trojans have loved playing football for many years. Terrence and Da’Veon got their start playing the game in elementary school, while Julian and Morrvan have played since the 7th Grade. The four are well-rounded student-athletes on and off the football field; Terrence, Morrvan and Da’Veon also play baseball, while all four boys run track in the spring. This summer, they have been working on technique and teamwork with their fellow football players.
Terrence, Julian, Morrvan and Da’Veon are pleased to see so many new and returning players on the field for summer practices. They feel a good sense of camaraderie among the team, and are thankful for all their coaches bringing positive energy while working to ensure our student-athletes can improve over time.
These four football captains are ready to show their Trojan Pride this season! They’d also like to share a philosophy they all believe in: “Agape,” which means selfless and unconditional love. Let’s hear it for these Trojans who lead their peers with positivity and determination!

We made so many happy memories this graduation season! It's already been more than three weeks since our teachers and administrators celebrated the Class of 2024's accomplishments at Senior Awards Night. We look forward to hearing what they will achieve next, and we are also excited for an amazing year ahead with the Class of 2025!
Incoming 9th Graders are invited to join our sports programs, including the LHS Girls Basketball team! Summer training will continue through the end of June. These sessions are the perfect opportunities to build team chemistry and camaraderie with your fellow Trojans!
Leslie Zindel and her students are making our garden look a lot nicer this summer! Before the heat came back today, students with the Extended School Year program enjoyed some morning shade while pulling weeds outside our culinary classrooms.
This summer, students are getting the chance to write their own autobiographical material! Mr. Rivera's English students are reading the memoir-in-essays "Funeral for Flaca" by Emilly Prado. They are writing in journals throughout the month, and will turn in memoirs about their own lives at the end of summer school!
It was an honor and a pleasure to have such thoughtful, generous students in the LHS Class of 2024! At graduation last Thursday, Janae Howard announced this year’s senior gift of two spotlights and a movie license. We want to thank our graduates for helping us to make this the best place it can be for students and staff!
There's a bright future ahead for the Class of 2024! Last night, seniors from LHS and Village Oaks were ecstatic to receive their diplomas for completing high school. There were so many proud families and staff members here to celebrate our amazing graduates!
Fran Bott believes that writing can provide a personal perspective on world events for centuries to come. As an English, literature and history teacher at Lincoln High School, she has helped our students connect with their past and present. We will miss Ms. Bott when she retires at the end of the school year!
Ms. Bott first realized she wanted to be a teacher while working as a freelance writer and print journalist. She took substitute teaching roles with Stockton Unified School District, which inspired Ms. Bott to earn her teacher’s credential. She taught 7th and 8th Graders at Stockton Unified for three years before joining Lincoln Unified School District.
During her 27 years with LUSD, Ms. Bott has taught a variety of social studies and English courses at LHS, and she also worked as an alternative education counselor for six years. Ms. Bott enjoys teaching books that give her the opportunity to provide historical context for their setting. When her 9th Grade students read “Fences” by August Wilson, she led engaging discussions about American social issues and race relations in the 1950s. Ms. Bott also felt fulfilled seeing students become more aware of South African history after a discussion about apartheid in World Literature, a class she used to teach at LHS.
Ms. Bott’s passion for teaching carried on through the 2020-21 school year. During distance learning, she led online lectures and discussions from her classroom, showing that she has a genuine commitment to setting a consistent and effective educational environment. Through her many years on our campus, Ms. Bott has also enjoyed dressing up for Spirit Days. She always enjoys finding ways to get students more actively involved in their education while experiencing real-life events such as our recent solar eclipse.
After she retires from LUSD, Ms. Bott will miss seeing spontaneous moments on campus that spark curiosity in students. She is currently applying to supervise new educators through the Teachers College of San Joaquin. Ms. Bott reminds all present and future students, “Pay attention to what is in front of you. Honor your curiosity.”
Thank you for all you've done for us, Ms. Bott!
As she grew up in a Navy family, education and public service were the most important values in Monica Malloy's home. Mrs. Malloy has lived by these values for 41 years teaching family life and child development at Lincoln High School!
After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, Mrs. Malloy attended UC Davis and became a student teacher. Her time teaching family living at UC Davis made her the perfect candidate for teaching child development, which she considers a practical class for parents and non-parents alike.
Mrs. Malloy takes pride in connecting with her child development students through interactive assignments such as the Real Care Baby project. Each student takes home a child replica programmed with unique information, so no two students have the same exact experience.
Mrs. Malloy’s child development classes provide valuable life skills that teach students how to provide a stable environment for a family or live on their own after high school. Her course also includes in-depth discussions about taxes, compound interest, savings and other financial subjects relevant to all Trojans as they approach adulthood. Mrs. Malloy’s students are also tasked with interviewing an older relative to better understand the obstacles and emotions that may arise later in life.
Beyond teaching, Mrs. Malloy has many positive memories associated with Lincoln High School. She first met her husband, Ron Malloy, when she was student teaching and he was a full time teacher here. After they were married, the two had twins, John and Megan, who both graduated from LHS in 2008. Mrs. Malloy is thankful for the quality education her children received, and for getting the opportunity to teach some students who went on to become teachers here. Some of the letters of appreciation she has received from former students keep her going each day.
Mrs. Malloy has seen her students become more capable and compassionate people, and loves the community our campus provides. To all past, present and future Trojans, Mrs. Malloy wants to share a quote from Paulo Coelho: “Impossible is just an opinion.”
Mrs. Malloy, thank you for showing generations of students that any dream is possible!
“The key is not the will to win. Everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important.” This quote from the late Bobby Knight is one Gary Greeno has lived by as both a math teacher and a basketball coach at Lincoln High School.
Growing up, Mr. Greeno often struggled with his math classes. When he attended college at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas, he realized that he could succeed in these courses as long as he maintained a consistent work ethic. Mr. Greeno ended up graduating from college with a major in physical education and a minor in mathematics. After obtaining his teacher’s credential, Mr. Greeno grew to love helping students like him discover they are more capable in math than they might realize.
Mr. Greeno taught at schools in Folsom and Monterey before joining Lincoln Unified School District for the 2006-07 school year. He teaches algebra and geometry, showing students how to solve problems step-by-step in a similar manner to how he teaches basketball plays. As someone who did not always excel at math, Mr. Greeno often relates to his students and has a unique level of patience and understanding, which he considers valuable assets for his job.
Mr. Greeno also coached LHS boys basketball through the 2018-19 season, leading the Trojans to win eight league championships in that time. He cherishes the many opportunities he’s had to see student-athletes – even those without much natural talent – put in their best effort and stick with the sport to see personal improvement and success. In recent years, Mr. Greeno has been proud to see his former students and athletes around town, and he loves hearing their stories about how he could help them reach their full potential.
After nearly two decades at LHS and 33 years of teaching in total, Mr. Greeno is leaving his teaching position this year to become a full-time pastor at the Horizon Christian Fellowship church in Stockton. He plans to approach his new role similarly to how he teaches: by prioritizing relationships with his fellow community members.
Mr. Greeno, thank you for helping so many Trojans become better learners and listeners with empathy and attention to detail!
Last week, LHS students, staff and families saw Paul Kimball take the Performing Arts Center Stage for the last time as our Choir Director. He will soon retire after 36 years of exemplary instruction and passion for music in Lincoln Unified School District.
This evening, Ayaana Williams shared Mr. Kimball's lasting legacy with CBS13 CBS Sacramento viewers. We want to thank them for such a wonderful tribute to our beloved teacher, leader and friend!
Longtime Stockton music teacher to retire after 36 years A music teacher known and loved by many in the Stockton community is retiring after 36 years of teaching in the Lincoln Unified School District.
Paul Griley has spent more than two decades helping Lincoln High School students become more thoughtful and capable writers. From his work leading the Lincolnian newspaper to his engaging discussions about classic literature and poetry, Mr. Griley has been an invaluable member of our English department!
Mr. Griley took his first teaching job while he lived in Half Moon Bay. He taught 8th - 12th Graders at a school with just 108 students in Pescadero before he was hired for his current role at LHS. Mr. Griley moved to the Valley in 1996 and was excited to begin instruction at a larger school. After five years of teaching English, he became the staff adviser for the Lincolnian, and would go on to advise the paper on and off for 15 years.
After two years at the Lincolnian, Mr. Griley resumed full-time literature instruction. His favorite literary movement to teach is British Romanticism. For this unit, his seniors study the Romantic poets and are asked to choose three poems to analyze in an evaluative essay. These seniors later read Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” which inspires some of Mr. Griley’s favorite discussions of the school year. He gets great fulfillment from helping students find genres or writing styles they like so they can look for similar works to read.
In his 28 years at LHS, Mr. Griley has always loved to see the growth and success of our extracurricular programs, including athletics and music. One of his fondest memories is the time he has spent with Ed and the Educators, a band of staff members formed during Spirit Week one year. Mr. Griley and his fellow staff musicians ended up playing small concerts across California for the next ten years, and he continues to enjoy playing the bass guitar.
Mr. Griley will retire at the end of this school year. After decades of living in Sacramento and enjoying the Stockton community, Mr. Griley and his wife will move to South Carolina this summer. They look forward to spending time at East Coast beaches, where they have previously spent time during summer vacations.
We thank Mr. Griley for all he has done to make reading and writing enjoyable for the Trojans, and we wish him the best in retirement!
Our 2024 Spring Choir Concert was a night of celebration and farewells for many of our students and staff. On Tuesday, seniors took the Performing Arts Center stage for their final performance as LHS Trojans, and this was also our last concert with choir director Paul Kimball, who will miss making music with our students and pianist Kimberly Watts-Willis. We wish all of them the very best!
We are so thankful for everyone who makes our choir program such a special community, and look forward to seeing the music continue next school year!
Dana Dickerson truly values the opportunity to make students believe in themselves. This was her inspiration to begin a career in education, and she has lived by it as an instructor in our social sciences department!
Mrs. Dickerson grew up in Montana. During her senior year, she was assigned to be a math tutor for another student. Several years later, the student saw Mrs. Dickerson again and thanked her for helping him gain the confidence to graduate and attend college. This was the moment that convinced Mrs. Dickerson she wanted to teach for a living.
After moving to California with her family, Mrs. Dickerson took classes at San Joaquin Delta College before achieving her teacher’s credential at University of the Pacific. Mrs. Dickerson started her first full-time instructional role at the San Joaquin County Office of Education’s alternative education program before joining Lincoln Unified School District in 2001. For three years, Mrs. Dickerson was an assistant principal in our district before she started a 20-year teaching career at LHS.
Mrs. Dickerson teaches World History for sophomores and U.S. History for juniors. Her favorite project in her U.S. History class is “My Own Forrest Gump Story.” For this assignment, students must research and write about cultural and historical events at various points in their lives, including elections and political decisions, popular television shows, and other pop culture milestones.
Mrs. Dickerson enjoys seeing World History students return to enroll in her U.S. History class. She also loves when she gets the opportunity to teach multiple students from the same family, developing more meaningful connections with Trojans.
At the end of this school year, Mrs. Dickerson is retiring from Lincoln Unified. She will miss seeing students greet her on the first day of school to ask how her summer was. Still, she looks forward to spending more time with her family, and will proudly welcome a new grandchild this August.
Mrs. Dickerson has had a wonderful time teaching in our district, which she calls “a good community.” We thank her for the decades she’s spent making this community such a fantastic learning environment!
Through filmmaking, Amia Ashley-Church uses her love of photography in collaboration with other students at Lincoln High School. She is excited to premiere her short film at the 2024 LHS Film Festival!
Amia became more interested in the filmmaking process during her junior year, when she oversaw sports photography for our 2022-23 yearbook. For her senior year, Amia decided to try Mr. Munoz’s digital video class, which she loves being a part of. Amia has been able to learn new techniques for videography and photography while getting a better sense of what she enjoys through class projects. She is especially proud of directing a music video that featured around 40 student collaborators.
LHS students and families will be able to see Amia’s work at our Film Festival on Wednesday, May 22. For her submission, Amia directed a short film with a script written by two other students. The short is a story about an argument between two girls, with dramatic tension developing over time. Amia filmed the movie on campus, and has been editing it in Mr. Munoz’s class to prepare the final product for an audience.
Amia encourages students to try picking up a camera to capture photos of their interests. By taking pictures at football games and other sporting events, Amia realized she wanted to pursue photography and filmmaking as genuine passions. For anyone who is not sure what steps to take, she suggests signing up for Mr. Munoz’s class in the fall 2024 semester.
We wish Amia the best with her creative and professional endeavors as she prepares to graduate with the Class of 2024!
Lincoln High School students can learn more about coding, electrical engineering and digital software through Mr. Seibert's computer science instruction. Trojans in his Computer Survey class get a closer look at computer hardware, web design and programming, while students in Mr. Seibert's Games class can use JavaScript to create video games, including platformers and dungeon crawlers. In the spring, Mr. Seibert will also offer a robotics course!
