Embracing Diversity & Unity
University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music is the first music school on the West Coast. The Conservatory has more than lived up to the vision its founders set in 1878. We have built an exceptional record of educating outstanding musicians.
Diversity and Unity: these are the two seemingly paradoxical pillars of our Conservatory community. Diverse because we come from so many vastly different backgrounds and experiences, and because we will all have so many divergent destinations. The Conservatory of Music's performing and professional opportunities, curriculum, and world class teaching faculty prepare our students for a diverse and ever-changing world. We are unified by the power of music to instill healing, fellowship, family, cultural awareness, and recognition of our common human bonds. Our students are united together by the common experience they all share at Pacific: the transformational power of music in their own lives, and the recognition of their own critical role in our society to transform others in the world around them as a vocation.
