With Mary Beth Gunn now leading Pacific Women's Tennis, Reed Peters stepping into Pacific Baseball, and Dave Smart coming into Pacific Men's Basketball basketball with assistant coaches Clay Wilson, Craig Beaucamp, Garrett Bridges, and Myke Scholl, the Tigers are coming in BIG this year.

A warm welcome to four new members of the Pacific Board of Regents! Jessica Coleman ’99, Robert Eglet ’88, Bradford Gleason ’81 and Bradford Shafer ’82 started their three-year terms this week, and we can't wait to see how their varied talents and experiences benefit the governing board of California’s first and oldest university.
Additionally, Evan Dreyfuss ’86, Andrea Lynn Hoch ’84, and Brian Miller ’91 are completing their service as regents, and we couldn't be more grateful for their dedication to the university.

A class project for students in University of the Pacific’s nursing program has led to transformative changes for women and children more than 9,000 miles away.
While many of their peers implemented projects in local communities, such as Sacramento and Stockton, a group of students opted to travel to Kenya to introduce a project focused on respectful maternity care. Read the full story here:

Eight students from University of the Pacific are spending part of their summer immersed in historic Italian cities, with one ultimate goal: covering a full year of beginning Italian in only 40 days.
The Pacific students have learned to make pasta, sampled world-class Baci chocolates and interacted with local Italians and people from other countries also seeking to learn the language.

Recently University of the Pacific celebrated the tenure of Dr. Brittany Trotter. She joined the faculty of The Conservatory of Music in the fall of 2021 and has been a valued member of our community ever since.
Performing Danza de la Mariposa by her idol Valerie Coleman, it was the perfect piece to celebrate her achievement. We are incredibly lucky to have Dr. Trotter here on campus, and we can't wait to see what she accomplishes during her tenure.

"Juneteenth symbolizes freedom and liberation. Let this be a time of remembering and embracing what Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion symbolizes for Pacific." This week, we follow the words of Mary Lomax-Ghirarduzzi and celebrate all that Juneteenth represents.
This past weekend we celebrated in Sacramento at the Juneteenth Block Party. Today the Office of Diversity Equity, and Inclusion held a BBQ to learn about the history and significance of the holiday while enjoying great food and company. Happy Juneteenth!
“No two students are the same, and many have faced issues parallel to those impacting adults,” said Edwin Cowell, who recently joined University of the Pacific as Title IX coordinator. “The global pandemic, changing political landscapes and issues of social justice are among the challenges. We must meet students where they are.”

Pacific Conservatory of Music continues to be at the forefront of the music industry as they celebrate and teach mariachi with Mariachi Ocelotlan—the conservatory’s first mariachi ensemble
“Mariachi creates a special connection that attracts students who might otherwise not be interested in music…When I see my students out there performing, I know they’ve found their identity and they feel empowered,” said Luis “Tito” Talamantes ’24.
After several years working as a professional musician, teaching music was something Tito felt called to do, particularly at the collegiate level. That opportunity came in 2019 when Talamantes partnered with conservatory faculty and the dean to launch Mariachi Ocelotlan.

University of the Pacific recently unveiled a new addition to the Center for Identity and Inclusion—a vibrant work of art celebrating diversity, unity and community.
Painted by local artist Alex Suelto, the striking mural serves as a visual representation of the center's mission to foster an inclusive environment while promoting cultural understanding.
