Next Tuesday ,July 31, is the last day to come by the shop and pick up free fabric. We will be open from 10-4 pm.
Toy Rescue Mission has received a whole lot of fabric and we are sharing with our clients and volunteers. The fabric will be out in the lobby on Tuesdays from 10 am to 4pm ( July 16, 23, 30) for the rest of July.
It is mostly upholstery, lining and clothing fabrics but there are some cottons. We also have books and notions/ laces etcโฆ
You are welcome to stop by and see if there is something you can put to good use.
"I'm sure I'm not the only one who goes crazy from their kids asking for every single thing they see in a grocery store. I tell them no lots, but I think naturally kids just see and ask. Well, to distract them from this I started letting them pick out one can for the food bank - any can they choose - every time we go to the store, and they love it!
They put so much thought into what can, they carry the can to the till, hand it to the cashier, and then put it in the food bank bin. My daughter likes to explain to people what the food bank is for. We have done this for our last five trips to the store and not once have they asked for something! And they are helping the food bank in the process.
I know this won't last forever, but if anyone has a 2 or 4-year-olds like me, I recommend trying it! Maybe when they get older I can turn it into a challenge (find a can that starts with the letter 'c' or find a vegetable)."

On June 7,8 & 9th Toy Rescue volunteers manned a booth at the Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show. We collected donations and had a wheel for the kids to spin for a free prize. Had a lot of fun. And this wonderful lady selling freeze dried candy (which was very yummy) gave us bags for the kids when we realized we had forgotten ours.
Thank you NorthwestPinballShow.com for inviting us back this year.
Come on out to the Tacoma Convention Center this weekend to support TRM and the Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show. $5 or more gets you a ticket for our drawing ๐

โPets, it turns out, also have last wishes before they die, but only known by veterinarians who put old and sick animals to sleep. Twitter user Jesse Dietrich asked a vet what was the most difficult part of his job.
The specialist answered without hesitation that it was the hardest for him to see how old or sick animals look for their owners with the eyes of their owners before going to sleep. The fact is that 90 % of owners don't want to be in a room with a dying animal. People leave so that they don't see their pet leave. But they don't realize that it's in these last moments of life that their pet needs them most.
Veterinarians ask the owners to be close to the animals until the very end. โฒโฒIt's inevitable that they die before you. Don't forget that you were the center of their life. Maybe they were just a part of you. But they are also your family. No matter how hard it is, don't leave them.
Dont let them die in a room with a stranger in a place they dont like. It is very painful for veterinarians to see how pets cannot find their owner during the last minutes of their life. They dont understand why the owner left them. After all, they needed their ownerโs consolation.
Veterinarians do everything possible to ensure that animals are not so scared, but they are completely strangers to them. Don't be a coward because it's too painful for you. Think about the pet. Endure this pain for the sake of their sake. Be with them until the end.โ
