After completing Carnegie Mellon University’s UDream program, Mai Graves accepted a position with Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. In the Fall, Graves will enroll in the online B.Arch classes while completing a Pittsburgh internship at BCJ. FAMU has been part of the UDream program for almost 20 years.

Justin Chappell, FAMU architecture sophomore, spent his summer as an intern at Albert Kahn, Detroit. Kahn is known as “the Architect of Detroit” for designing over 100 buildings in his lifetime. Congrats Justin!!!
Master of Architecture (M.Arch) student, Jada Robinson, is a summer intern at DAG Architects in Tallahassee, Florida. In 2020 and 2007, DAG was named Firm of the Year by the Florida AIA. Congrats Jada!!!
Every Summer, SAET Alumni and FAMULY, return to pre-register their sons, daughters and grandkids during Orientation. In 2024, retired architecture history professor Diane Greer joined her granddaughter as she registered for ARC Design 1 studio and other classes.
FAMU AIAS attended AIAS Grassroots 2024, an annual leadership conference that focuses on developing members and their future. The theme, ‘Flourishing Futures,’ was all about nurturing growth, resilience, and imagination in a world full of twists and turns.
The FAMU School of Architecture and Engineering Technology (SAET) unveiled its upgraded Digital Fabrication Lab, The Kaizen Collab, to further inspire design innovation and creativity. Located on the second floor of the Walter L. Smith Architecture Building, it celebrates a three-year partnership with Jacobs.

The Boeing Company in North Charlston, SC hosted the SAET EET, CET & ARC students. The visit to the plant introduced manufacturing, facilities management, new technologies and employment opportunities. Superbly hosted by Sarah, along with Dawn and Candince, FAMU Alumni.
For 3 years in a row, FSU Interior Design Prof Meghan Mick brought the FAMU SAET and Nims Middle School together for a Day of Design. The 2022 event was at Nims, the 2023 event at FSU, and the 2024 event at FAMU. The tour of the building by FAMU AIAS, FAMU WIA, FAMU NOMAS, and the FSU ID students was followed by robotic arm (Prof Perez), surveying (Prof Shadravan), and VR (Prof Park) workshops. The 2024 FAMU + Gensler studio began with a visit from Higor Arruda, Senior Associate and Design Director @ Gensler Tampa. After touring the building and meeting with Prof Epolito and Prof Perez, Higor spent the afternoon with the Design 8 students. The partnership is designed to build a closer relationship with Gensler’s Tampa, Atlanta, and Washington DC offices.

Congrats to FAMU SAET Assistant Professor Dr. Mohamed Khalafalla Ahmed. Today, the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) included Prof. Ahmed as one of 10 Faculty Explorer award recipients in the inaugural EnergyTech University Prize (EnergyTech UP) Faculty Track. OTT awarded each faculty competitor for showing promising interest, ideas, and/or materials promoting energy entrepreneurship at their collegiate institutions.

Florida A&M University (FAMU) School of Architecture & Engineering Technology (SAET) invites applications for two FULL-TIME TENURE-TRACK appointments in ARCHITECTURE. The position will begin in AUGUST 2024.
