Our celebration of our faculty members’ summer work and achievements continues as we salute Colleen Harmeling, the Dr. Persis E. Rockwood Associate Professor of Marketing, for her selection to the inaugural class of Study of Business Markets Scholars based on research contributions and impact on the field.👏

Also, she recently published a paper entitled “Emoji Marketing: Toward a Theory of Brand Paralinguistics” in the International Journal of Research in Marketing. Great work, Colleen Harmeling!✨

We are so proud of Mason Pullum, Sean Cliff, Daniel White and Sebastian Mehlum for their work in the Leaders of Tomorrow Business Competition in Dublin. This international event paired our students with representatives from Grant Thornton and Eversheds Sutherland in a Shark Tank-like competition. 👏

Ally Zimmerman (Accounting) is now the Madeline Duncan Rolland Associate Professor of Business Administration, Nate Newton (Accounting) the Homer Black Associate Professor of Business Administration and Mariya Letdin (Real Estate) the Kyle Riva Associate Professor of Business Administration.

Also, Mike Brady (Marketing) has been promoted to assistant provost, Patricia Shubrick (Business Career Services) to senior lecturer and Paul Schriefer (RMI) to associate lecturer. In addition, assistant professors Young Eun Lee (Management) and Chongyu Wang (Real Estate) have been appointed Dean’s Emerging Scholars. Lastly, Ruby Lee (Marketing) has been promoted to interim director in Dr. Persis E. Rockwood School of Marketing.

𝐖𝐨𝐰! 🤩 Behold the current state of stately Legacy Hall and the work of Culpepper Construction. Officials still anticipate a late 2025 completion, despite tropical storms, oppressive heat and damage from recent tornadoes. And says Mark Bertolami, the college’s Legacy Hall planning advisor: “The installation of the brick exterior is progressing, and the final sections of the roof are being installed, allowing interior work to commence." 👏

Florida State University alumni Scott and Suzi Brock recently announced a $3 million charitable bequest to FSU that includes $1.4 million to establish the Scott and Suzi Brock Endowed Professorship in Accounting and the Scott and Suzi Brock Endowed Scholarship in Accounting in the College of Business. Michael Hartline, dean of the college, said the pledge would “change lives, elevate our accounting department and college, and distinguish our students in their careers.” 👏✨

The college got a taste of 𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐝🥇 at the Paris Olympics, as Jenna Nighswonger (B.S. Finance ’22) joined two other former FSU women’s soccer players – Casey Krueger (B.S. Criminology ’11; M.S. Sport Management ’12) and Emily Sams (B.A. Computer Science ’21; M.S. Information Technology ’23) – on the U.S. Olympic team, which scored a 1-0 victory over Brazil in the gold-medal game on Saturday. A finance degree and an Olympic gold medal, what a winning combination. 👏 ✨

For our next spotlight, 💡 meet Joshua Wirth, a senior majoring in accounting and finance. He spent his summer getting hands-on experience as an intern at the Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection in Fort Lauderdale.⛴️

Among other things, he worked closely with various departments and learned how to navigate financial software and tools. Joshua described his internship as an "exceptional educational experience that is helping me grow both personally and professionally.”👏 ✨
