June 23, 2022, marks a historic day in the history of our country and higher education as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Title IX. Title IX has provided opportunities and protections for countless students in a full spectrum of higher education areas. As we celebrate the history of Title IX, we hope you will take a moment to reflect and recognize your role in the continued efforts of Title IX and its continued evolution.
Title IX is most notably known for its impact on women’s athletics; however, it has also placed a spotlight on how sexual misconduct and sexual violence are handled on campus. Florida State University strives not only to comply with the law but also to support our students through a myriad of resources and resolution options. Please see knowmore.fsu.edu for more information.

Part of hazing prevention is creating healthy environments and organizational dynamics. Check out the following ways to build healthy groups and teams. Source: Stop Hazing
Image 1:
Understanding The Group
Communicate and be transparent about all rules, expectations, and guidelines for the group so that all members are aware of and understand their role in the organization.
Set intentional time for members to get together and think critically about how they want the organization to move forward. This can be a time for members to voice concerns, share accomplishments, and problem-solve any current situations.
Image 2:
Learning and Building An Awareness of Group History
Hold education sessions to discuss and learn about the historical roots of the group and the ways in which it does or doesn’t align with the current context.
Image 3:
Instilling A Strong Sense of Belonging
Host casual and optional events and meetups for individuals to have a space to interact with one another.
Host a retreat for the group that provides time and space for everyone to come together
Image 4:
Building Trust
Hold a workshop for personal development and reflection that provides time to explore personal strengths, passions, fears, goals allowing a space for members to be vulnerable in a safe and productive way.
