(1) A conviction for an attempt to commit a crime may constitute a crime of child abuse, child neglect, or child abandonment under section 237(a)(2)(E)(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 ‍U.S.C. § ‍1227(a)(2)(E)(i) (2018).

(2) The respondent’s conviction for attempted injury to a child under sections 15.01(a) and 22.04(a)(1) of the Texas Penal Code renders him removable under section 237(a)(2)(E)(i) of the INA, 8 U.S.C. § 1227(a)(2)(E)(i), for having committed a crime of child abuse.

When I was a prosecutor for the first TEN years of my career, with very rare exceptions, me and my colleagues had a great relationship with my opponents, whether they were private lawyers or public defenders, and our opponents were equally compassionate. I pride myself having made more friends than enemies during that time. I am still friends with many of them today. When we were sick, we accommodated each other; when we suffered a loss in the family, we grieved with each other; if we needed a friend, we were there for each other.
