Most cases in Probate Court deal with family-related matters, from issuing marriage license to couples eager to begin their life together to reuniting a family by terminating a temporary guardianship appointment when a petition to terminate has been filed and after hearing it is determined that issues have been resolved and parents are now able to provide a stable home for their child.

As we remember and honor Veterans on Memorial Day I am remembering some Tift County Veterans who are special to me and my family: J.D. Lindsey, John Danforth,
Shell Hartley, Sr., Hetman Kvistad, Judge Doug Jones, Zane Moorman, W.A. (Red) Harrison, Carl Walker, Jesse Walker, Gene Walker and Virgil Walker. Who are the Veterans special to you and your family?

Experiencing this pandemic shows just how essential the work of a Probate Judge is. Whether it be the appointment of an emergency guardian, issuing an Order to Apprehend or issuing a marriage license which would allow couple to marry so that spouse could visit loved one in hospital or perhaps make end of life decisions for their loved one, an experienced Probate Court Judge with judicial integrity is what our county needs.

Probate Courts are ESSENTIAL and I am the candidate uniquely qualified to serve as your Probate Court Judge in good times and bad!

You deserve a Probate Judge who has experience and judicial education. Probate Judges’ Day at the Capitol and Legislative Conference, laws regarding estates/guardianship/weapons carry licenses/marriage licenses are amended often. Our legislators welcome input from the Probate Judges before deciding how to vote on issues that affect Probate Court.

Courtroom Experience 🏛 Judicial Integrity

An understanding of the applicable law, integrity and empathy are key traits of a good probate judge. I have a passion for the duties of this office and compassion and empathy for the people within our community who must rely upon the courts for protection. Rulings that I make in guardianship cases have a significant impact on minors and senior adults, our most vulnerable citizens, and this is a responsibility that I take seriously. Many matters falling within jurisdiction of Probate Court require ongoing monitoring and supervision of the cases and the fiduciaries placed in positions of trust by the court. You want a Probate Judge who you can trust to protect the lives and property of those who lack sufficient capacity to make or communicate significant responsible decisions concerning their health, safety and the management of their property.

As Probate Judge, I enjoy the daily interaction with Tift County citizens and attorneys and feel fortunate to be able to serve this wonderful county. I look forward to continuing this tradition of excellent service that my team and I have been able to provide.
