Nova exhibit THIS TUESDAY
10-29!!

Please join us for this unique and extremely moving
presentation of the events that took place on
October 7th at the Nova Music Festival.

The entire exhibit is comprised of shared video and
cellphone from the day and is set up like the
actual concert event, with personal items
and accounts from that day.

Please note:

There are a few places/times to sit - but it is
housed in a very large warehouse. It is set up
like the concert, so the floor - in spots - is
uneven and covered with wires and personal things
to move around.

While it is emotionally stirring, the exhibit
ends with positivity and hope with words/music from
actual participants and rescued hostages . . . .

Those who were there are choosing to go forward
with positivity, light and hope - so too must we!

This is the message:

We will dance again!!

Please don’t miss this extraordinary event; it will
change you forever. The survivors and those
who have passed deserve it.

This is an extraordinary tribute to their lives and legacy.

Not to be missed.

Carpools are being arranged.

Lunch after at Factors Deli.
Please join us.

Streaming October 17-20, 2024
Live Q&A: Oct 17, 9pm ET

In 1970, when the United States was ruled by men, Bella challenged the status quo, running a successful campaign from the streets of Manhattan that elevated her all the way to the halls of Congress. With her trademark hat and Bronx swagger, Abzug entered Congress swinging, battling for credit cards for women and equality for the LGBTQ community and
trailblazing a path for leadership that
reflected the broad diversity of the country.

Using never-before-seen home movies, audio diaries, and a vast trove of newly discovered news footage, Bella! delves into a colorful and gritty era where one woman sacrificed her own political ambitions for future generations of female leadership.

10/13/2024

We remember those who lost their lives, were injured, and
those held hostage on this horrific one year anniversary
of the October 7th attack on Israel.

The Middle East and all of our lives are forever changed.

We stand together -- broken hearted but cannot
give up hope.

The Israeli people, and even its national anthem
“Hatikvah” are based on it.

Amidst the horrific nightmare that continues to this day,
we pray for the release of all remaining
hostages and peace.

In commemoration, we will go as a group on
October 17 to attend The Nova Musical Festival Exhibition
being held in their honor.

We will arrange carpools from temple to exhibition in Culver City
Please join us.

Please be advised to wear comfortable walking and standing
shoes because there is nowhere to sit during the exhibit;
we were told that we must be able to stand/walk through it.
Additionally, the Exhibition contains sensitive and
graphic content, including gunshots, shouts,
flickering lights, complex and difficult content to watch,
and survivors' testimonies.
(If you need to duck out, please do)

Carpools will leave Temple at 10:45 am for
Culver City on Thursday 10-17.

You MUST RSVP if you are joining us because
tickets must be purchased in advance.
Minimum ticket price is $9.30,
which includes a $1.30 service fee and a minimum
$8 donation to commemorate the victims, rehabilitate
the survivors of the festival, support the
Tribe of Nova community, promote education and
call for the return of the hostages.

Shabbat Balaak Yismechu 7 15 22 10/11/2024

Rabbi/Cantor Didi recently became aware of an article published in a daily online publication titled "Jewish Humor Central." Although not really a humorous article, it is a wonderful tribute to Temple Emet's spiritual leadership and the essence of Temple Emet. Here is the article:

Today we welcome Shabbat with Yismechu, from the Shabbat afternoon service, sung by Rabbi/Cantor Didi Thomas. A California native, child of an interfaith family, and former professional actress and singer, Rabbi/Cantor Didi draws on her eclectic life experiences to bring a unique presence and musicality to all of her services.

Known for her warm embracing style, she inspires participants toward a greater sense of unity and connection regardless of their faith or level of observance. Her services uplift the soul and make the heart soar; they are spiritual, multi-dimensional, and universally appealing. Rabbi Thomas is devoted to creating inclusivity and spirituality in all aspects of her rabbinate.

She is the founding Rabbi for Temple Emet of Torrance, which is a highly participatory community dedicated to creating a sense of family amongst congregants, enhanced worship and learning experiences, as well as a greater connection with the Divine.

She has served as Cantor for Temple Menorah in Redondo Beach, and as Educator, Music Specialist, or Cantorial Soloist for several large Los Angeles and Texas congregations including Temple Isaiah, Temple Israel of Hollywood, Wilshire Boulevard, Temple Aliyah, Kadima Hebrew Academy, and Temple
Emanu-El of Dallas.

Her daughter, Alissa Thomas-Newborn, ordained at Rabbi Avi Weiss' Yeshiva Maharat in Riverdale, New York, is an American Orthodox Jewish spiritual leader who became the first Orthodox female clergy member to preside in the Los Angeles, California area when she assumed her post as a spiritual leader at B'nai David-Judea Congregation (BDJ) in August 2015.The announcement of her appointment came on May 2, 2015 from the pulpit by the lead clergyman of the synagogue, Rabbi Yosef Kanefsky.

Enjoy, and Shabbat shalom!
