This 100 year old WWII Veteran received one of our Wounded Warrior quilts on July 4th. He was “truly touched and loves his quilt”. We get many requests for panel quilts for Vets in our area that are deserving of special recognition and they are a great morale boost. The Guild has a long history of participating in the Wounded Warriors Quilt Project, and has donated more than 1,000 quilts over the years! We gladly accept donations. In April, eighteen students spent an enjoyable Saturday learning the basics of wool appliqué from Catherine Redford. In the morning we cut out, layered, and basted our pieces down, then whip-stitched around each piece. In the afternoon we learned 5 or 6 embroidery stitches, starting with the basics and advancing to fly, bullion, feather, and drizzle stitches, as well as beaded backstitch. If you ever have a chance to take a class from Catherine, you'll learn and laugh all day!

Here's a challenge you might be interested in...
This year the challenge will feature Peach Fuzz, Pantone’s 2024 Color of the Year. They describe it as a “velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.”
We’ve looked over all of our color cards, and listed some solid fabric equivalents below. Note that none of these are perfect matches, but they’re what we felt was closest to the Peach Fuzz fabric swatch we ordered from Pantone! You don’t have to use these specific shades, and you don’t have to use solids, but we hope this gives you a helpful reference point for this year’s color.
