Our Family Services
Our Family’s mission is to eliminate homelessness and strengthen our community.
August 12th is International Youth Day! Today is dedicated to raising awareness of the challenges faced by young people worldwide and recognizing their incredible potential to create positive change. 🎉
This year’s theme, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” highlights how young people are harnessing the power of digital tools to drive sustainable development and create meaningful change. 🌍💻
At Our Family Services, we’re proud to support Tucson’s youth and build a brighter, more sustainable future.

During August, we emphasize the importance of child support.
At Our Family Services, we are dedicated to supporting families and ensuring that every child can have the chance to succeed. Through our programs and services, we work to provide stability and resources that families need. Child support helps kids get the education, healthcare, and essentials they need to thrive. Let’s support our families and spread the word!
Did you know state and tribal offices can:

🗣 Support Our Youth: Reauthorize the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act! 🏠
Did you know that every year, thousands of young people in our community face homelessness and
uncertainty?
⭐The Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) is a crucial piece of legislation that provides essential services and support to these vulnerable youths, helping them find safety, stability, and hope
for a brighter future.
At Our Family Services, we see firsthand the positive impact of RHYA-funded programs.
They offer:
🛏 Emergency Shelters: Safe havens for immediate needs.
🎓 Transitional Living Programs: Guidance towards independence.
📞 Street Outreach: Vital resources and support for those on the streets.
But we need your help! The RHYA is up for reauthorization, and your voice can make a difference. By advocating for this act, you're standing up for the future of our youth.
Here's how you can help:
1.📢Spread the Word: Share this post and let others know about the importance of RHYA.
2.📝 Contact Your Representatives: Fill out the RHYTPA Take Action form to email your representatives, making sure they know that constituents are asking them to cosponsor this
important legislation. (https://bit.ly/3WWFa8E)
3.💙 Get Involved: Volunteer or donate to organizations like ours that support homeless youth.
Together, we can ensure that all youth have the opportunity to thrive. Let’s make our community a place where no youth has to face homelessness alone.
Thank you to Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) and the Family Community Engagement Department for inviting us to be part of the IMPACT Tucson Family & Community Resource Fair! It was thrilling to see so many community organizations come together to support Tucson's students and families. Through this event we were able to provide tons of families with information about our various programs & services, snacks, activities, and first-aid kits.
If you or anyone you know is experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless, there is help available! Head to our website for more information ➡️ www.ourfamilyservices.org
Today, we celebrate and honor the life of Rita Bourgeois with her family, friends, and congregation at Casa Adobes Congregational Church. Rita was a long time supporter of Our Family Services and previously served on our Board of Directors. She was known for her compassionate spirit, big heart, and sense of humor. Rita's support over the years has changed the lives of hundreds of youth and families experiencing homelessness in our community. Her wit, wisdom, and guidance has provided a lasting impact on the staff, leadership, and board of Our Family Services. She will be terribly missed. Today, we want to honor her and her legacy of caring for unhoused youth and families.
Thank you for everything, Rita. We are grateful for you and your incredible impact on the lives of others.
Happy Pride! We're celebrating with ACLU of Arizona, LGBTQ Alliance Fund, and Tucson LGBT Chamber of Commerce at HighWire Tucson!

Congratulations to Cynthia Quijano and Alex Lespron, our 2024 Samantha Cravens Scholarship Award Recipient! For the first time, we have two awardees!
Cynthia is our Housing Education and Outreach Coordinator and plans to develop her digital and social media engagement skills. Alex, our Housing Referral Coordinator, will advance her coding and data management skills.
The Samantha Cravens Scholarship Award was founded by Our Family's former board chair and volunteer, Scott Koenig, to honor an employee who makes a personal commitment to professional growth. The award is named in memory of former Our Family employee Samantha Cravens. Sam touched many lives through her work at Our Family, and her spirit of caring and generosity lives on through this award.
This Memorial Day, Our Family honors those who have fallen while serving. There are approximately 857 homeless veterans in Arizona. At Our Family, we connect these individuals to resources that offer housing for veterans. We will be closed today, Monday, 27th, and will resume normal business hours tomorrow. We wish everyone a safe weekend!
With your support, we will help homeless youth transition to safe and appropriate living arrangements and grow into self-sufficient adults. Thank you, Stone Canyon!
