This morning, i listened to the rich Constitutional drama that was President Biden’s State of the Union address. President Biden, by formal invitation of the Speaker of the House, addressed Congress, the Cabinet, prominent defense officials, the Joint Chiefs of staff, and members of the Supreme Court.
i then read hostile evangelical political bulwark responses to the SOTU, demands for Christian Nationalism, and a dismantling of secularism. i can not endorse these positions. i prefer to be “salt of the earth” (Matt. 5:13-16). We live in a pluralistic society that respects the dignity and freedoms of every individual. i don’t want the church to control the state or the state to control the church! Societies that have adopted one religion have often been oppressive regimes! In the midst of secularism, in a secular marketplace of ideas, let me be “salt of the earth”!
i am prepared for contrarian evangelical opposition from my evangelical Sisters and Brothers. You’re still my Sisters and Brothers in God’s very diverse Family. Un abrazo y bendiciones!

Esta mañana escuché el rico drama constitucional que fue el discurso sobre el Estado de la Unión presentado por el Presidente Biden. El Presidente, por invitación formal del Speaker de la Cámara, se dirigió al Congreso, al Gabinete, a destacados funcionarios de defensa, y a miembros de la Corte Suprema.
Luego leí respuestas hostiles del baluarte político evangélico al SOTU, demandas por un nacionalismo cristiano, y desmantelamiento del secularismo. No puedo respaldar estas posiciones. Prefiero ser “sal de la tierra” (Mateo 5:13-16). Vivimos en una sociedad pluralista que respeta la dignidad y las libertades de cada individuo. ¡No quiero que la iglesia controle al estado o que el estado controle a la iglesia! ¡Las sociedades que han adoptado una sola religión, a menudo han sido regímenes opresivos! En medio del secularismo, en un mercado secular de ideas, ¡déjame ser “sal de la tierra”!
Estoy preparado para la oposición evangélica contraria de mis hermanas y hermanos evangélicos. Todavía sois mis hermanas y hermanos en la muy diversa Familia de Dios. ¡Un abrazo y bendiciones!

Hello everyone, it’s been a while since we have posted here. Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. As you may know we have had The Nehemiah Project closed because of COVID. Many of you may not know that The Nehemiah Project has been partnered with The House Church run by Pastor DrRogelio Ovalle. As a result of him partnering up with us, we have been able to upgrade part of our building. Many friends have donated either by monetarily or by putting time and hard work into rebuilding our place. We really appreciate all their hard work. This year we want to reopen The Nehemiah Project, but because of COVID we need all the help we can get. We want to have a backpack giveaway event and try to recruit more kiddos to come. We would also like to have more families come join The House Church.
