Voters will see Measure O— the Cannabis Tax Authorization for Maintenance of Essential Services on the November 5, 2024 ballot.
Measure O is not a tax on residents but a tax on cannabis businesses that may open in Visalia.
If adopted, revenue generated from these taxed cannabis businesses would funnel into the General Fund to support essential services such as preventing property crime, maintaining quick emergency response times and keeping public areas safe and clean.
While retail cannabis businesses remain illegal in the City of Visalia, the City is proactively planning for the future by exploring ways to meet evolving needs.
To learn more about Measure O, visit www.VisaliaMeasureO.com.
Today, we remember and honor the heroes and lives lost on September 11th. Visalia Transit stands united in reflection and gratitude for the courage and resilience shown on that day.

🧑🏫It's that time of year! 🚍Here are some safety tips for students riding public transportation as they head back to school:
1. Stay Alert: Be aware of your surroundings, especially when boarding and exiting public transit. Avoid distractions like loud music or being engrossed in your phone.
2. Plan Your Route: Know your route ahead of time and have a backup plan in case of delays or changes. Use transit apps to check schedules and track your ride in real-time. Call Greenline at 1-877-404-6473 for trip planning.
3. Keep Valuables Secure: Store your phone, wallet, and other valuables in a secure place, such as a zipped bag or pocket. Avoid displaying expensive items in public.
4. Stand Back from the Curb: When waiting for the bus, stand a safe distance away from the curb or platform edge. Stay within marked areas and wait for the vehicle to come to a complete stop before approaching.
5. Travel in Groups: If possible, ride with friends or classmates, especially during early mornings or late evenings. There's safety in numbers, and it can make the commute more enjoyable.
6. Use Designated Crosswalks: Always cross streets at designated crosswalks or intersections, even if it means walking a bit further. Look both ways before crossing and follow pedestrian signals.
7. Avoid Isolated Areas: When waiting for transit, try to stay in well-lit, populated areas. Avoid isolated bus stops or train platforms, especially after dark.
8. Trust Your Instincts: If you ever feel uncomfortable or notice suspicious behavior, trust your instincts. Move to a more crowded area or alert the transit driver or station staff.
9. Know Emergency Contacts: Keep important phone numbers, like a parent's or guardian's contact information, readily accessible in case of an emergency.
10. Respect Transit Etiquette: Follow the rules of public transit, such as keeping aisles clear, allowing others to exit before boarding, and offering seats to those in need. This helps create a safer and more pleasant environment for everyone.
These tips can help ensure that students have a safe and smooth experience while using public transportation during the school year.
