KEMET Court No. 237 Bringing Awareness 💚(National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month)💚
____________________________________

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month and is a good time to learn how to seek help or be an ally to those who may be struggling.

1 in 4 Americans suffers from a diagnosable mental disorder. Minority populations are less likely to receive diagnosis for their behavioral health issues and have less access to mental health services.

KEMET Court No. 237 💖 Bringing Awareness (Sexual Violence Awareness Month) 💖 👖
____________________________________

Denim Day takes place on the last Wednesday of April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This day of action and awareness is an event in which people are encouraged to wear denim to combat victim blaming and educate others about sexual violence. The day comes following a high profile Italian r**e trial where the survivor was blamed for her r**e because of the type of jeans she was wearing. In protest and solidarity, individuals are encouraged to wear denim to combat the idea that r**e and sexual violence are the fault or responsibility of survivors.

KEMET Court No. 237 🧡Bringing Awareness (Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month)🧡

Multiple sclerosis is a disease that impacts the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves, which make up the central nervous system and controls everything we do. The exact cause of MS is unknown, but we do know that something triggers the immune system to attack the CNS. The resulting damage to myelin, the protective layer insulating wire-like nerve fibers, disrupts signals to and from the brain. This interruption of communication signals causes unpredictable symptoms such as numbness, tingling, mood changes, memory problems, pain, fatigue, blindness and/or paralysis. Everyone’s experience with MS is different and these losses may be temporary or long lasting.

KEMET Court No. 237 💚Bringing Awareness (National Kidney Awareness Month) 💚

March is National Kidney Month! Did you know kidney disease is often referred to as a “silent disease,” because there are usually no symptoms during its early stages? In fact, as many as 90% of Americans who have chronic kidney disease (CKD) don’t know they have the disease until it is very advanced.

The good news is the earlier you find out you have kidney disease, the sooner you can take steps to protect your kidneys from further damage. Protecting your kidneys may allow you to continue to work, spend time with family and friends, stay physically active, and do other things you enjoy.

Kemet Court No. 237 🎉 Celebrating WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH 🎉

Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women planned and executed a “Women’s History Week” celebration in 1978. The organizers selected the week of March 8 to correspond with International Women’s Day. The movement spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women’s History Week celebrations the following year.

In 1980, a consortium of women’s groups and historian led by the National Women’s History Project (now the National Women's History Alliance)successfully lobbied for national recognition. In February 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first Presidential Proclamation declaring the Week of March 8th 1980 as National Women’s History Week.

❤️Bringing Awareness (Heart Health) ❤️
The most common form of heart disease in the United States is coronary artery disease (CAD), which occurs when the arteries that supply blood to the heart become hardened and narrowed due to a buildup of cholesterol, known as plaque. CAD can lead to health issues such as heart attack, heart failure, angina (chest pain), stroke, and irregular heartbeat. Every year, one in four people will die from heart disease. Heart disease can strike anyone, but certain individuals may be more at risk than others. Some of the most common risk factors for heart disease include:
* High blood pressure
* High cholesterol
* Diabetes
* Obesity
* Poor diet
* Inactive lifestyle
* Cigarette smoking
* Excessive alcohol consumption
