On Memorial Day, we cannot forget the fallen men and women in the Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice. They are our mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends who have sacrificed themselves for our country. They have given their lives to allow us to enjoy the rights, liberties and freedoms of America.

Today, let’s not forget our heroes.

The Washington, DC Metro HBCU Alumni Alliance, Inc. (DCHBCUAA) is proud to announce that Gizelle Bryant will serve as the Grand Marshal of the 11th Annual HBCUs Run the District 5K Run/Walk and Community Day, Saturday, June 29, 6:00 AM.
Gizelle Bryant is a television and media personality, podcast host, author, and vibrant socialite living in the Potomac area. She is a star cast member on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Potomac, and has also appeared on Bravo’s Chat Room along with Porsha Williams and on Season 3 of Ultimate Girls Trip. With her RHOP co-star Robyn Dixon, she hosts the incredibly popular podcast, Reasonably Shady, which is part of iHeart’s Black Effect Podcast Network. She is also the author of the highly-rated and bestselling novel, My Word. Across all socials, Gizelle shares her life & success with almost one million dedicated followers.


Gizelle accomplishes all this as a mother of three daughters, Grace and twins Angel and Adore. Gizelle grew up surrounded by ambition; her parents set the tone for her path with their work in government and philanthropy. After graduating from Hampton University, she moved to Baltimore, where she married megachurch pastor/activist Jamal Bryant. But when the marriage ended seven years later, Gizelle remained resilient and decided it was time to move back to her old stomping grounds of Potomac for a fresh start with her three girls. When she’s not working or spending time with her children, Gizelle focuses her time on multiple entrepreneurial ventures and philanthropy projects—such as generating funds to revitalize various major cities in order to help those in need or in transition.

Congrats to our alma mater for being awarded the Retool Your School Innovation Lounge Grant.

Grant recipients will work with The Home Depot to remodel an existing space. This includes a project manager, construction, and design team. Grant consideration will be given to applicants for the purpose of refreshing an existing campus space of up to 1000 sq. ft. Funding includes paint, flooring, lighting, building materials to support repairs, furniture/decor, and technology to support hybrid meetings and webinars. Gift cards should only be used for building materials and additional decor for the Innovation Lounge.

An Innovation Lounge Grant does not include funding for new construction, demolition and rebuild, or spaces requiring the support of a general contractor or building permits to complete.
