If you need rattlesnake relocation services in the Bay Area (California) call JnW 707-557-5213 or Al Wolf +1 (707) 321-0504

Here is a good do-it-yourself guide on how to remove and relocate a venomous snake from your yard or public space. You should welcome harmless snakes into your yard for the pest control benefits they provide.

If you regularly have snakes in your yard, you're probably providing a haven for rodents. Removing pet food, bird seed and places for rodents to hide and nest will greatly reduce the chances of snakes hanging around your property.

Remember, snakes are protected by law in most places, so be nice to them. They have an important job to do and we need to appreciate them more.

MICHA PETTY ON RELOCATING A VENOMOUS SNAKE YOURSELF (When the snake removal guy isn’t available):

It's my position that coexistence (leaving the animal alone and simply avoiding it once you have spotted it) is the most preferable practice from an ecological standpoint. However, I understand not everyone is psychologically capable of that. Here is one alternative. Read more great info at bit.ly/snake-sighting 🐍🐍🐍

Apparently, I need to edit to add an analogy and additional explanation here …

Removing one snake from your yard does not make your yard any safer than removing one car from the road would make your commute any safer.

You are still responsible for where you put your appendages (and those under your control put theirs) in order to stay safe outdoors, just as you still have to drive defensively even if the courts remove some drunk drivers.

Since this is the case, relocation is a pointless interference in the lives of native animals with established home ranges, especially when you consider that another snake is likely to come in and fill that resource void.

If anything, relocation decreases your safety by potentially giving you a false sense of security.

This is a small part of why I steadfastly uphold the premise that peaceful coexistence is the most ecologically-sound sound policy and should be recognized as the ultimate goal of any conscientious educational efforts.

I know we are a reptile rescue but I couldn’t say no when this guy was found. He has to be somebody’s pet. He is just a baby and keeps calling out for his family. If you know of a missing young rooster that was lost in Concord, Ca please let us know. If we are unable to find his family we will try to find him a good home.

Anyone in Walnut Creek, Ca missing a bearded dragon? Just caught this poor thing in a backyard off Mayhew. If this is your dragon proof of ownership required. This baby has an injury on their jaw, is dehydrated and malnourished. Already has been soaked and gobbled up some hornworms.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Tom Harbin... He was one of the (if not THE) most friendly snake breeders I (Emily) ever knew. I always looked forward to finding his tables at reptile conventions and geeking out about hognose morphs, behaviors, and just snakes in general. He was incredibly knowledgeable about hognose snakes, and was someone I truly looked up to in the reptile breeding community. You could tell he bred snakes not for the profit, but for the passion of the animals. You left this world too early, Tom. I still had so much to learn from you. We'll miss you, Tom ❤️

His name is Picky, he is a little over a year old and is looking for his forever home. He is a little spicy. Does not bite or even try to but does try to whip and barrel roll when you first handle him and then he immediately calms down. He is motivated for raspberries and will do just about anything with the promise of one lol. He loves butter lettuce, romaine, green beans, apple, zucchini, chard and strawberries. He is a picky eater hence the name 😉
