Students in the Houston County School District will return for the 2024-2025 school year on Wednesday, July 31. To help prepare students and their families for the new school year, elementary and middle schools have scheduled Meet and Greet events to give families an opportunity to meet the teachers and see their classroom. High schools have also scheduled orientations for incoming freshmen and any other new students.

SENIORS! Senior portraits with BPI are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week. If you have gotten your appointment card in the mail, please stick to the date and time on the card. Due to the post office closure in Macon, many students have not gotten their appointment card in the mail yet. If you have NOT received your appointment date and time, you can come any time between 9:30-11:45am or 1:15-3:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday this week. If you are unable to attend this summer session, there will be a make-up session in the fall, or you can contact BPI to discuss other options at (229) 382-8277

If you are moving over the summer and will still be in the Houston County School District, we encourage you to make changes with Central Registration in June. Once you've moved, go online to www.hcbe.net/centralregistration. There, you will find the Change of Address form and the documentation needed to make the change. You don't want to wait until the last minute, as Central Registration gets very busy in July.

Also, if you are on an Affidavit of Residency or Kinship Caregiver Affidavit, you must renew those before school starts on July 31 to ensure your child will have a line of enrollment for the 24-25 school year.

Parents and Students graduation is right around the corner. Here is some helpful information on practice and graduation day, such as times and dress code. Parents here are maps for parking as well. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to anyone in the front office, we are happy to help!

Students in the Houston County School District will attend school for a half day on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. This is the last day of the 2023-2024 school year.
School will begin at the regularly scheduled time on May 22, and students will be served lunch before dismissal. School dismissal times will be as follows:
• Middle schools – 11:30 a.m.;
• High schools – 12:00 p.m.;
• Primary and elementary schools – 12:30 p.m.
The after school program will not be offered on the half day. Students who ride the bus will return home approximately three hours earlier than their normally scheduled drop-off time.

Demon Fest was a blast, filled with laughter, fun, and a strong sense of community. Together we raised funds for our local homeless shelter, Have Hope House, making a positive impact right here at home.

The Golden Eagle Awards was established in 1978 to celebrate and honor Central Georgia’s highest achieving, engaged, and hard-working high school seniors. Winners in 14 categories receive recognition at the Golden Eagle annual awards ceremony, a GE trophy, and a $2000 scholarship. A runner-up is also selected from these 14 categories with each receiving recognition at the GE annual awards ceremony, a GE plaque, and a $1000 scholarship. Kavon Anderson was awarded the Golden Eagle Award for music and Natalie Ewig was runner up for English Literature. Congratulations Kavon and Natalie! 🎉🎉

Reminder for seniors-Chromebook return date May 14th. If you are a 9th, 10th, or 11th grader LEAVING WRHS, you will turn your Chromebook in on May 15th.

Congratulations to Joy Sanders for earning 1st place at the FFA State Convention for her agri-science project. She also placed 3rd for her research proficiency. Also, big shout out to Ja’nila Stephens and Kaelyn Adriance for earning their State FFA degrees!
