Perry's FIRST brewery is coming SOON.

Dena Barrows and her husband, Bryant, are the franchise owners of the new restaurant and brewery, Amici Italian Cafe and Brewery, opening soon at 396 Perry Parkway -- Perry's first brewery.

Amici is expected to open in late August.

Dena Barrows previously served as the nutrition director for 15 years for Dodge County schools. Dr. Bryant Barrows, a dentist, owns Oconee Dental Associates with offices in Dublin and McRae. We're excited to see the knowledge and skills they'll bring to Amici in Perry!

New restaurants and entertainment options like Amici are what makes Houston County a great place to live and conduct business.

It's time to shout out the amazing healthcare professionals and paramedics that contribute to innovation in healthcare in Houston County.

First responders Quinton Head, Keith Williams and Patrick Bullis were promoted over the summer to become new supervisors of Houston Healthcare System's emergency medical services in Warner Robins and Perry.

Head, a former SWAT medic, said that the goal is to improve patient care outside of the hospital by enhancing patient safety, emergency medical procedures, ambulances and 911 and rescue equipment.

They also collaborate regularly with local police, fire and nearby EMS department.

Robins North, CGTC partnership building tomorrow’s workforce 08/14/2024

Houston County is home to innovative programs that help students succeed. 💪🏻

In 2019, Robins Air Force Base, Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) and Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) came together to allow aerospace training students to work alongside the 402nd Commodities Maintenance Group aircraft maintainers from the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex. The first-of-its-kind program was dubbed Robins North.

The partnership — which is still strong five years later — helps build the future workforce for both Middle Georgia and for Robins Air Force Base. The purpose is to develop a long-range supply of skilled employees.

Houston County High School senior wins Distinguished Young Woman of Georgia 08/12/2024

A Houston County senior was recently named the Distinguished Young Woman of Georgia for 2024!

Abi Bragg, a rising senior at Houston County High School, won the competition and secured $2,900 in scholarships.

She will now represent Georgia at the national competition in Mobile Alabama from June 26-28, 2025.

The Distinguished Young Woman competition emphasizes a holistic approach, evaluating participants on scholastics, interview skills, talent, fitness and self-expression.

This is a prime example of how Houston County schools prepare their students for success both in and outside of the classroom. Congratulations, Abi!

Army Reservist Billy Sparks chosen for Houston County Habitat's 2024 Veterans Build - 41NBC News | WMGT-DT 08/07/2024

A Houston County community united to build a home for an Army veteran. 🏡

Orchard Way is in the process of constructing multiple homes, including one for veteran Bill Sparks.

A training injury that resulted in a broken leg left Sparks unable to work and eventually led to homelessness. Despite his circumstances, Sparks continued to volunteer with Habitat Humanity.

Now, Sparks has been selected as the Habitat for Humanity veteran build homeowner, and is receiving a new home of his own.

We love seeing Houston County grow together, serve together, and give back.

A Middle Georgia Fire Department will receive nearly $50,000 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. 🚒

The City of Centerville Public Safety Department will receive the $47,619.04 Assistance to Firefighters Grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. made the announcement, stating that first responders play a vital role in the safety and health of Georgians.

The grant will allow departments to purchase new, quality equipment.

This collaborative event will showcase a solution to teaching k-12th grade students Professional Skills through competitive Robotics. We are excited to announce that the Georgia FIRST Robotics Board of Directors has decided to hold its annual Board of Directors retreat here in Central Georgia. As part of their meeting agenda, they would like to meet with Central Georgia Industry partners, School Administrators, Teachers, FIRST Robotics Coaches and Mentors, and those interested in STEM education to discuss FIRST Robotics as a tool to build the Workforce of the Future. This will be an informal drop-in reception-style event to promote our Central Georgia Robotics students and to show that Central Georgia is preparing our students for future workforce needs.

The Houston County School District FIRST Robotics Competition Team will be hosting Robotics teams of all school levels, K-12th grades, from Central Georgia, to do Live demonstrations of what they have learned through FIRST Robotics. If you have never seen these students show their passion for STEM and their creativity in solving problems, you are in for a treat during this reception. Warner Robins, Georgia, has made its mark on the global stage with its Smart City initiatives! Mayor LaRhonda Patrick showcased the city's innovative Digital Twin project at the Smart City Summit & Expo in Taipei, Taiwan, Asia's largest Smart Cities trade show in March 2024.

During her presentation, Mayor Patrick emphasized citizen safety and explained how the Digital Twin uses crime data to strategically deploy Flock Safety cameras, ultimately reducing police vehicle traffic.

The community's collaborative efforts earned Warner Robins a finalist spot for the Smart21 Communities of the Year award by the Intelligent Community Forum.
