This month, our Club was blessed to make a donation to the Warsaw Community Library Children's Department. This donation will help the Library purchase books for teens.
In May, our Club was blessed to help the new organization "Sleep in Heavenly Peace" with a $500 donation. This donation will build 2 beds for children in our community who are sleeping on the floor or have other unsuitable sleeping arrangements.
(L-R: Eric Coburn - President of our Club; Mike Webb -Co-President of SIHP; Bob Dillon Delivery Manager of SIHP)
Please join us for dinner tonight at Ledgeview Brewing Company and support The Warsaw Noon Optimist Club! 20% of all food, non-alcohol drinks, and merchandise will be donated to our Club!
UPCOMING EVENTS:
June 1 - Nelson's Golden Glow club fundraiser. This year we will have chicken, pit-tatoes, pork chops, and ribs! We will have a limited supply of the chops and ribs. Will post hours as we get closer.
June 12 - Ledgeview Give Back Day - Our club will receive a percentage of all food, non-alcohol beverages, and merchandise sales for the entire day! Hope to see you there! (975 Warren St, Warsaw).
Our speaker on Monday, April 22, was Duane Herendeen from the Warsaw Public Library. Duane works in the children's area. He outlined the many programs and activities that the library provides for the children in our community. It's truly amazing what our Library offers throughout the year - including summer reading programs.
Our speaker on Monday, May 29 was Sam Pena, Warsaw Community Church's Hispanic Pastor. Sam reported on the Hispanic and Latino population in our community. Sam's family came to the United States, when he was a child, as migrant workers. He and his family now reside in our community. Sam and several volunteers from WCC visit elementary schools to help teach English to student's parents. It's exciting to see how Kosciusko County has welcomed so many different nationalities over the years.
***Our annual Nelson's Golden Glow chicken sale will be held on June 1 at JB's Furniture Store parking lot on Center St. We are selling tickets now!
Please consider joining us to learn more about how we help the youth in our community! Questions: Call Kathy at 574-551-9492.
On Monday, April 15, our guest speaker was Cindi Knepper from Lutheran Home Services. Cindi helps children and their families live better lives. Cindi was the director of the Boys and Girls Club of Kosciusko County for many years. Thru her experiences with that Club, she made numerous contacts with local agencies and is the perfect person to have the position that she has today. She has been, and continues to be, a positive influence in many young lives.
Our meeting on Monday, April 22, will be held at The Gordon Wellness Center near Grace College, with guest speaker Duane Herendeen from the Warsaw Public Library.
Please consider joining us and help us help the youth of our community.
This week we held our monthly business meeting.
We will not be meeting on Monday, April 8. Enjoy The Total Eclipse of the Sun!
On Monday, April 15, we will be meeting at the Boathouse Restaurant with a guest speaker. Please consider joining us. Each person attending is responsible for paying for their own lunch.
For more information, contact Kathy at 574-551-9492.
This weeks speakers represent a new non-profit organization in our community - Sleep in Heavenly Peace. This group of volunteers builds bed for children who have been sleeping on the floor. You would be surprised how many children in our community need a bed. Without a good night's sleep, how can kids be attentive and make good grades in school? Several "build days" have been scheduled. To find out how you can help with a "build day" or sponsor a bed, check out their page: SHPKosciusko.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Tomorrow's meeting will be held at The Boathouse Restaurant in Winona Lake. If you'd like to learn more about our Club and how we help local youth, please join us. For those who would like to order lunch, you may do so from the menu - we pay for our own lunch.
On Monday, our guest speaker was Scott Gabriel from Parkview Health Network. Scott brought us up to date on what's currently going on at Parkview Warsaw, and what's 'in the works'. Parkview has been a great addition to this area and it was exciting to hear of what's yet to come.
This week we met at The Boathouse Restaurant in Winona Lake. If you are interest in joining our group, please let us know. We would love to have you! Currently we meet at The Gordon Wellness Center in Winona Lake. However, we know that not having a food option during our Monday 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. meetings could hinder new members. We are currently looking into other places to meet that do offer lunch.
If you have questions or would like more info, please contact Kathy Hamman at 574-551-9492. COME JOIN US AS WE HELP LOCAL YOUTH!!!!
Yesterday our guest speaker was Autumn Knepper from the Salvation Army. Autumn works with families trying to make a "step up" during difficult times. So many needs in our community right now. Thankfully we also have multiple agencies for folks to work with - sometimes we just need to make sure people are aware of what's out there. That's what Autumn does. "Thank you Autumn, and the rest of the Salvation Army staff, for all that you do to help others in our community!"
We meet on Mondays, 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. at The Gordon Wellness Center in Winona Lake. We'd love to have you join us!

Lincoln, Sacred Heart Third-Graders Saddle Up For Bike Rodeo
Posted Oct 10, 2023
News Release
WARSAW — The Bike Rodeo was held Friday, Oct. 6, at Sacred Heart Elementary School for Sacred Heart and Lincoln Elementary third-graders — continuing a Warsaw Noon Optimist Club tradition that dates back about 30 years.
With the combined efforts of Tracey’s Trailer, Kosciusko County Velo and the Warsaw Noon Optimist Club, 94 kiddos from Sacred Heart and Lincoln elementary schools got to try out their skills and practice what they have been working on for the past four weeks.
Tracey’s Trailer provided bicycles for the event. There were dozens of bikes ranging from beginner’s strider bikes up to more advanced rider bikes. Bicycles were available in different sizes for children to choose from. The bikes are maintained and serviced by TrailHouse Village Bicycles, located in Winona Lake. Kosciusko County Velo provided classroom instruction for the four weeks prior to the event. Topics covered were: bike safety instruction, biking etiquette and proper road rules for road biking. Each child also was measured to be sized for a new properly fitting bike helmet. In addition, a bike safety picture was provided to each student to be colored and submitted for a coloring contest.
The Warsaw Noon Optimist Club provided the end-of-the-rodeo treats for everyone and certificates for each of the participants. The group also awarded first-, second- and third-place prizes for the coloring contest for each classroom. Third place received a bike lock; second place received bike lights; and first place received a bike computer. New bike helmets were provided to each student by the Noon Optimist Club.
It took many volunteers to make the Oct. 6 event happen. The Noon Optimists are also grateful to the Warsaw Community School Corp. and the Warsaw and Winona Lake police departments.
The Bike Rodeo is a tradition that was started back in the early 1990s at Atwood Elementary School by the Warsaw Noon Optimist Club. The rodeo moved to Jefferson Elementary School in 2006 and was held annually. In May 2022, a rodeo was held at Warsaw Community Church with Jefferson, Claypool and Eisenhower elementaries participating, and that tradition continued this past May. In October 2022, Sacred Heart and Lincoln elementaries were added. The ultimate goal is to hold a rodeo for every third-grade class in Kosciusko County.
