Today marks the commissioning anniversary of USS Gerald R. Ford - CVN 78, the most advanced aircraft carrier in the world. Commissioned on July 22, 2017, she represents the pinnacle of naval engineering and innovation. USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78)’s first deployment occurred in 2022, and since has demonstrated her capabilities across the globe, solidifying her role as a crucial asset in maintaining global maritime security.
Today, we celebrate the commissioning anniversary of USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), one of the most advanced and powerful aircraft carriers in the world. Commissioned on July 12, 2003, CVN 76 has proudly served our nation, embodying the spirit and strength of its namesake, President Ronald Reagan. Reagan’s mission readiness, technological advancements, and dedicated crew continue to ensure our naval superiority and support global peace and security. As a pivotal asset to our U.S. Navy, she represents the courage, resilience, and dedication of all who have served and continue to serve aboard her. Here's to the USS Ronald Reagan and her crew – may you always have fair winds and following seas!
Congratulations to sailors from the Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike group for receiving Combat Action Ribbons (CARs) for their bravery and action while deployed in the Middle East, where they shot down Iran-backed Houthi drones and missiles on a near-daily basis. The Combat Action Ribbon is awarded to sailors and Marines who actively participated in ground or surface action, and the Navy has rarely given it to sailors since the 1991 Gulf War.

Today is 🇺🇸. On June 14th, 1777, the Second Continental Congress adopted the design for its first national flag. Flag Day - the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777 - was officially established by the Proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson on May 30th, 1916. Today, these proud symbols of American strength and resiliency fly on all of our nation’s aircraft carriers.

Today we’re honoring the 80th anniversary of Doris Miller’s passing. He was an exemplary sailor whose heroic endeavors, legacy and dedication to his country will live on through the future USS Doris Miller (CVN 81), currently under construction.
