Artist Highlight - Company E

Company | E has partnered with the U.S. Department of State since its founding in 2011, performing, teaching, and creating in parts of the world where Americans are rarely seen — from Algeria to Kazakhstan — to places where culture shows a different side of America — from the West Bank to Cuba. That cultural exchange is vital to the way the Company picks its repertory. Company | E works with the Diplomatic Missions of foreign nations to commission choreography from leading and emerging artists from, for example, Sweden, Spain, Israel and Poland, bringing fresh talent and ideas to U.S. audiences and a diverse concert experience to the Company’s international work. Beyond that work, the Company has also been committed since its inception to issues of sustainability, climate and human rights. Commissioned by Company E and the Embassy of Spain in Washington, DC, FEW, choreographed by Thomas Noone and Nuria Martinez, is about the small things in the world – the sense of what it is to be one of only a few remaining. Filled with imagery derived from the natural world, this piece is haunting yet somehow also enchanting. Made possible by the Embassy of Spain and by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, Few has won hearts both here and in Spain itself.
Come join us see their performance at Capital One Hall on June 14! Get your tickets: https://www.capitalonehall.com/events/detail/aurora-dance-festival

Fun fact: while Kathryn does not actually play the violin, her husband is a professional French Horn player and she plays the piano!⁣
