Besties! Are any of these true to your experience? Now these are true for what some call “normal” periods, but everyone’s experience can vary. That’s why understanding your cycle and being in tune with your inner rhythm can help you notice patterns or inconsistencies. That way, you can have an informative conversation with your healthcare provider about your period.

🩸First day of full bleed queues the start of your menstrual cycle

🩸🩸 Estrogen and progesterone hormones are pretty low 📉

🩸🩸🩸Generally, a period lasts 3-7 days 🗓

🩸🩸🩸🩸You’ll lose 90% of your period blood by day 3 of your period

Black women disproportionately lack necessary reproductive health care—including contraception access and counseling, abortion, STI screenings, and reproductive screenings (Source: Health Equity, Obstetrics & Gynecology). This leaves them
vulnerable to many risk factors around pregnancy. Recent improvements in maternal and infant health across the 20th century are due, in part, to expanded contraceptive access and use.
