That’s why understanding your cycle and being in tune with your inner rhythm can help you notice patterns or inconsistencies. Black women disproportionately lack necessary reproductive health care—including contraception access and counseling, abortion, STI screenings, and reproductive screenings (Source: Health Equity, Obstetrics & Gynecology). This leaves them
vulnerable to many risk factors around pregnancy. Recent improvements in maternal and infant health across the 20th century are due, in part, to expanded contraceptive access and use.

Etta's Embrace is joining to celebrate Black Maternal Health Week! Join us in centering Black women's scholarship, maternity care work, and advocacy.
Doulas are called to serve people through a full spectrum of live events, from periods and fertility to pregnancy and postpartum to death. Doulas play critical roles in the lives of menstruating people and their support systems. To close out World Doula Week, I wanted to share some photos from the past month that ignites the fire I have to continue to ensure that people who menstruate have equitable access to knowledge and resources to be active participants in their health care and make mindful decisions about their body.
