The Remedy

A 501(c)(3) Organization tackling community wellness through Peer-to-Peer Harm Reduction support

Photos from The Remedy's post 06/19/2024

📢 PSA: You don’t need to do substances or know people who do to carry naloxone - you could be the difference in saving someone’s life, giving them a second chance, and taking active measures towards community wellness.

In April, members of The Remedy had to administer Narcan to 2 individuals within 3 days while walking around D.C. during the day. They were able to successfully reverse the overdoses and help these individuals.

Availability of naloxone + harm reduction resources minimize the negative consequences of drug use without promoting/encouraging it. These strategies utilize evidence-based approaches that prioritize saving lives to improve overall community health.

You never know when someone might need your help - be the change, and help each other because we are in this together!

FREE Narcan, training, fentanyl test strips & more resources always available! DM for questions/more info.

__________

The Remedy began as a group of inspired young adults who found community through music. We've evolved from a production company to a record label, and a charity booth, which eventually blossomed into the Peer Support 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization we are today 🌸

When every person has something on their plate right now and we can never fully be in someone else’s shoes, love, patience, and kindness are more crucial than ever.

Our work is deeply informed through extensive dedication, time, and resources. Members have trained under well-established local and international harm reduction organizations, many of which have been active since the '90s.

We value lived experience and believe every individual can bring a unique perspective to the table. We also feel that the core principles of harm reduction are rooted in basic human decency & community wellness.

For us, harm reduction extends beyond education, naloxone, and test strips. It's about mental health and minimizing harm in every possible way, starting from within ourselves: practicing self-control, moderation, balance, and empathy ☯ From there, we can inspire those we care about to prioritize self-care as well.

We believe real change occurs when we embrace the vulnerability inherent in our humanity. It's typically not pretty or comfortable — but sometimes we must step outside our comfort zones and do things like tackle difficult tasks or tough conversations.

Ultimately, the world won't change unless we challenge ourselves and others to strive for personal growth each day. But, we are in this together!

Together, we are all
The Remedy

As humans, we are constantly changing - our organization is following suit. On our journey through providing harm reduction, we have changed extensively in figuring out our mission and purpose. From this point on, we will be going by “The Remedy” as we feel the name “District.wav” no longer aligns with our current mission.

To the friends who have stuck with us through this journey, thank you. There’s nothing more we appreciate than the space to grow together. We look forward to more balance, healing, and growth in our community 🧡

Together,

P.S. The most humongous of shout outs to for composing a logo that beautifully encompasses our vision ✨

International Overdose Awareness Day raises awareness about overdose as a public health crisis and challenges the negative stereotypes & stigma surrounding substance use and overdose. By open-heartedly and transparently discussing overdose and its causes, we strive to reduce shame and encourage people to seek help.

Intl. Overdose Awareness Day is observed in multiple countries, emphasizing the global nature of the overdose crisis and the need for a coordinated response. This day serves as a time to remember and honor loved ones who have lost their lives to overdose. Communities are encouraged to come together and support those who have experienced the loss of family members, friends, and colleagues.

We would like to provide space for survivors of overdose and those in recovery to share their stories, experiences, and challenges, aiming to provide hope and inspiration to others who are struggling. We call on advocates and other organizations to call for policy changes, increased funding for addiction treatment and harm reduction programs, and better access to healthcare services.

Please reach out to us directly for naloxone kits & information so that we may help empower individuals to have this life-saving medication on hand in case they encounter someone experiencing an opioid overdose. Let us all empower each other to make the healthiest autonomous choices for ourselves at the end of the day.

We are stronger together 💜

If you are going to use by yourself, call this number! You will be asked your first name, location and number you are calling from. An operator will stay on the line with you while you use. If you stop responding after using, the operator will notify emergency services of an “unresponsive person” at your location.

“We will never shame, judge, or preach about stopping. If you are interested in getting help, we have resources available for you, but we will never push them on you. We recognize that you will only quit when you’re ready to quit. We just want to keep you alive until that time comes!”

We are now recruiting volunteers for our team at this year! The two roles are volunteering in the sanctuary and being a roamer, checking in on people throughout the fest 🤠

We are seeking individuals that understand the importance of harm reduction and will take these roles seriously. Enjoyment of the fest & music is a plus, not priority.

In exchange for three, 8-hr shifts, volunteers will receive free entry, car camping, meals/shift and a shower/day!

If you are interested, please fill out the application form - link in bio. Please DM us if you have any questions. We are so excited for this year and looking forward to expanding our team!

Peace & Love,
D.wav 🧡

Hi all, the past several days have been extremely rough for our community with the passing of CharlestheFirst, an inspiration and friend that touched so many of our hearts and lives. We will be postponing this show out of respect for those who were closest to Charles, and will be announcing a new date in the near future.

We understand that our music community is a huge part of many of our support systems, and are going to open our doors to anyone who still wants to unite on the dance floor. This show will be $10 through the ticket link in bio or $15 at the door and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the forthcoming fund we have seen is coming together for Charles’ family.

We will be offering refunds for those who wish or can not make the rescheduled date, and ask that you please bear with us as we navigate a new date and the refund process for those who wish to do so. If you would like an immediate refund, please email [email protected] with the name and order #. You’ll be able to request a refund up until after 7 days after we announce a new date.

For our rooftop, we will be collecting additional donations for Charles' family! Appreciate you all, stay safe, and hope to see you guys tonight 🧡
