The GW Student Consortium on Women, Peace and Security and GW Leading Women of Tomorrow stand with the student protestors and their encampment and join the numerous student organizations on campus in calling for George Washington University to uphold its responsibility to protect students and their right to protest peacefully.
To echo sentiments expressed by the DMV Faculty for Academic Freedom, who mentor, educate, and uplift our student body, “the purpose of a University is to encourage and allow open and free expression of speech to uphold the democratic ideals of a society. George Washington University, and indeed universities across the DMV and the United States as a whole, will fail in their most basic promises and commitments if they continue to repress, arrest, suspend, and stifle the free speech and political activity of their students.”
Thank you all for your interest in this evening’s event! However, due to ongoing student activism on campus and our desire to remain respectful of our attendees, speakers, and the general student body, we have decided to postpone tonight’s event. We will share further information at a later date.

Introducing GWU LWT’s 2022-2023 Executive Board!
We’re so excited to welcome our new members.💕
GWU LWT condemns any government telling women what they should and should not wear. We stand with Muslim women who face oppression from both ends. Legal bans of wearing a burqa, niqab, hijab, or any form of covering in public for women who wish to wear it is just as much a violation of the rights of women who choose not to wear it but are forced to.
GWU LWT firmly believes that Muslim women should have the right to wear what they choose and to make decisions about their lives and faith.
No government should regulate women’s choices about how they live or express themselves.
