America Votes is thrilled to announce that Daria Dawson will serve as our organization’s next Executive Director! She will be the first person of color to serve in this position, and she brings a broad range of experience from presidential campaigns to working for some of our union partners. Having joined America Votes in 2020, Daria has the experience and leadership our coalition needs to make progress in 2024!

Day 2 of the America Votes State Summit: We heard from powerhouse progressive leaders from organizations including NEA Today, Human Rights Campaign, ACLU, and Working Families Party about the issues that matter and how we can best communicate them to voters. We also did a deep dive into the trends that defined the 2022 midterms, the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, and the Chicago mayoral election to share lessons that should be carried into 2024.

Later in the day, we were joined by Special Advisor and Assistant to President Joe Biden Julie Chavez Rodriguez. We are fired up and ready to finish strong!

The America Votes State Summit 2023 started today! The State Summit has become a staple of the progressive organizing community over the past 14 years, and this year's State Summit is our largest event yet. Today we welcomed attendees from 47 states and DC!

This year, America Votes is also celebrating our 20th anniversary! Over the past two decades, we’ve grown into the coordination hub for 400+ progressive organizations working year-round in over 20 states.

Today we heard from outstanding progressive leaders and strategists about the profound threats to our fundamental rights and values - from attacks on democracy to the Dobbs decision undermining reproductive freedom - as well as the progress our partners are making cultivating a new generation of progressive leaders and organizers.

We wrapped up the day honoring Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer with the Cecile Richards Progressive Leader Award!

Governor Whitmer embodies the spirit of this award, working tirelessly to protect abortion rights, voting rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and the environment along with Michigan’s new progressive legislative majorities. Governor Whitmer's steadfast progressive leadership in Michigan serves as a model for the rest of the country.
