How much do you think you know about the nonprofit sector? Even though philanthropic work is held in high regard, most folks rarely get insight into the constraints impacting our charities—the Uncharitable Movie changes that by giving us all a glimpse into the barriers undermining these organizations. As of June 15th, the film is now available worldwide for streaming on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, and Vimeo.
Social Current is proud to be in partnership with the UnCharitable social impact campaign. Together, our teams are working to solidify funding and identify an initial cohort of communities to create, test, and refine strategies to change the perception and fundamentally redefine the nonprofit sector and its ability to solve social problems.
For each person who rents the film via their unique link, nonprofit partners receive a portion of the proceeds. Learn more now: https://ow.ly/8MRK50Sl3C5

Social Current President and CEO Jody Levison-Johnson is quoted in this recent article published in Entrepreneur Magazine on how nonprofits are embracing for-profit strategies like earned revenue, competitive salaries, and venture philanthropy. It shares stories of organizations that are increasing their financial stability and impact by changing the way they – and their supporters – think.
We are teaming up with Dan Pallotta and the social impact campaign for his film UnCharitable to further educate communities and change the nonprofit narrative. Learn more by reading the article:

Marisa Collins, director of strategic partnerships, recently attended the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies PowerNET conference. It was a powerful experience, with reflection on Holocaust Remembrance Day and an orchestra performance dedicating a welcoming environment for those with mental illnesses. “It was one of the most valuable professional experiences I’ve had over the past year,” said Yolanda Graham of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health. “I made meaningful connections with other leaders and left feeling energized.”
Stay tuned for opportunities to learn more about the framework and Equip the Flip initiative, funded by the RWJFoundation.

The important work of creating an equitable society where all people can thrive cannot be achieved without the support of diverse community-based partnerships. Global Volunteer Month, celebrated in April, provides a great opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate partners that donate time, resources, and expertise to make a difference in our communities.
Social Current is grateful for its corporate social responsibility partners, which bolster our network’s impact by engaging teams of corporate volunteers and generously donating resources.
Aramark volunteers cooked, packaged, and delivered meals over Thanksgiving, while also purchasing and wrapping gifts for college students during the holidays.

We are so thankful for all that they do in partnership with Social Current!
Last week, Social Current staff were greeted in Chicago by a total solar eclipse! 🌒 United by our mission, we enjoyed team-building exercises and spending time with one another.
As a typically fully remote staff, it was wonderful to see each other off-screen and in-person! We left feeling inspired to continue supporting the social sector.
