For one evening only, independent producer, Cherie Sampson will present her solo performance, “every.single.one,” on July 26, 2024 at 7:30 PM at Theater J.
“every.single.one” is a multimedia performance that depicts personal, familial and community stories about hereditary cancer while exploring topics of genetics, integrative oncology, and healing from a patient’s perspective of modern medicine. The narrative interweaves three levels of testimonial – the performer’s own experience, that of her sister, and stories of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer survivors and previvors - people who have taken prophylactic measures to prevent cancer when there is a known genetic risk.

A cross between a ghost story and a Yiddish fable, Lauren Yee’s moving and whimsical The Hatmaker’s Wife redefines home, family, and love.
Magic and realism collide in this modern fable about learning to love. A young woman moves in with her boyfriend, and when she has trouble getting comfortable, her strange new home seems determined to help out, literally. The walls start to talk, words magically appear, and a golem with a taste for Cheetos gets into the action.
The 2023-2024 Theater J season wraps up with a production of Lauren Yee’s The Hatmaker’s Wife, directed by Dan Rothenberg, founding member and co-artistic director of Philadelphia’s Pig Iron Theatre Company.
