That’s another two show day in the books!

I’m back home now with my cat, Claude, who was named after a nonbinary French Surrealist named Claude Cahun. My Claude loves cuddles and dislikes two show days, for whatever reason.

I leave you with Claude’s majestic face and a photo of his namesake.

And be sure to come see An Unbuilt Life at Washington Stage Guild! We have a Sunday matinee, and shows Thursday-Sunday next week for the final weekend!

Review | How the robots will remember us when we’re extinct 04/18/2024

Another review for AN UNBUILT LIFE! This time from Washington Post!

“Steven Carpenter’s handsomely straightforward production unfolds on a living room set (by Joseph B. Musumeci Jr.) that speaks quietly of its inhabitants’ consequence and connections, underscoring the material realities that are as much at stake here as the ethical ones.”

Make sure you check out this world-premiere play before it closes May 5th!

“Deschryver’s script is deeply philosophically motivated and shines brightest when it asks its characters to consider the consequences of doing the right thing.”

ABOUT THE PLAY
When Agatha Ganner discovers a mystery painting in her deceased husband’s art collection, she engages an energetic graduate student to research it for her. As disturbing crimes of the past are unearthed, Agatha must decide to either right the wrong – and possibly ruin lives – or leave the past in the past. Is doing the right thing always the right thing to do? A World Premiere.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Elizabeth DeSchryver is an award-winning playwright, short story author and poet. She earned her PhD at Northwestern University, specializing in Victorian Literature with a Shakespeare chaser. Logically, she then spent 24 years working for a technology consulting firm before leaving to write full-time. Her short plays have been produced at Chicago Dramatists, 2nd Act Players, and most recently at the 8×10 Eileen Moushey TheatreFest (Weathervane Playhouse). She is a member of the Dramatists Guild, a Network Playwright with Chicago Dramatists, and a founding member of the Telling Humans Playwright Studio. She is thrilled to be having her world premiere at the Washington Stage Guild, and grateful that they were willing to take a chance on a newbie.
