I met with the Elizabeth City State University Foundation Board on Monday to talk about best practices for fundraising and the state of funding. Tonight, the Atlanta Braves hosted their annual HBCU Night, presented by Truist, a major partner of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

We had a wonderful experience at the Hamptons and I’m thankful for the board leadership shown by Racquel Oden and Sandra Hurse. I’m also grateful to Dr. Frohman, who set the tone of the event with his generous pledge.

This summer, I had the opportunity to speak with students as they prepare for life after high school in the TMCF Seeking, Observing and Achieving Results (SOAR) program. It’s important they see the Thurgood Marshall College Fund as a resource on their journey from pre-college to entry into the workforce. While at Fayetteville State University, I spoke with Chancellor Allison about the importance of having a program like SOAR on campus.

It was an honor to discuss TMCF's efforts to support college education for descendants of slavery at the Aegis Trust conference in Kigali, Rwanda. This story is a great example of how the process of racial justice and healing can begin.
