Marine conservation and travel media We ask that YOU be that inspiration for others to follow in your footsteps.
SEVENSEAS Media is the leading free resource that promotes marine conservation through community engagement, online media, and eco-tourism, every month, to our readers all across the globe. SEVENSEAS, in collaboration with The Ocean Foundation, is working toward our shared goal of reversing the trend of destruction of ocean environments around the world and expanding ocean literacy.
Alexa Charouhis, a teenage climate activist shares her experiences attending the UN Summit of the Future. She expresses hope for the newly passed Pact for the Future, but also fears that it may be too little, too late to address the very real impacts of climate change already being felt around the world.

Often overlooked in favour of their colourful and clear-water counterparts, turbid reefs hold hidden strengths. Sophie Coxon explores the murky depths of Koh Phangan's coral ecosystems, revealing their unique biodiversity and surprising resilience in the face of climate change. As bleaching events sweep the globe, these underappreciated reefs may hold the key to coral conservation.

A team of oceanographers led by Schmidt Ocean Institute have discovered and mapped a new seamount on the Nazca Ridge in international waters, 900 miles off the coast of Chile. The Nazca Ridge, an underwater mountain chain, along with the adjoining Salas y Gómez Ridge, is one of several global locations under consideration for designation as a high-seas marine protected area.

Sea Lions With Cameras Mapping Unexplored Seabeds
We know extremely little about what the seabed looks like. Studying and mapping them is difficult, sometimes impossible and certainly expensive. However, a researcher in Australia has used sea lions to help map large areas. Nathan Angelakis attached small, lightweight cameras to eight Australian sea lions (Neophoca cinerea) and obtained 89 hours of film.

Our Story
In a Washington DC kitchen in 2015, the idea for SEVENSEAS Media swam ashore. Originally, it was to be a simple travel magazine connecting people, stories, and resources within the marine conservation and sustainable tourism community. That 12 page magazine quickly evolved into what you see today, spreading across the globe to tens of thousands of subscribers.
Hundreds of scientists, researchers, athletes, artists, tour operators, brands, organizations and enthusiasts publish with us regularly to share the good work they are doing in conservation.
We continue to maintain a strong tourism focus because we all love to travel but SEVENSEAS Media has transformed into what many are calling one of the strongest grass-roots networks serving our community. We already host the largest and most active ocean conservation focused jobs board anywhere online https://sevenseasmedia.org/ocean-jobs/ and our audience grows with every passing week.
If you would like to get involved, publish your story, help with fundraising, or sponsor an issue, visit https://sevenseasmedia.org or email at [email protected].
