Did you know you can use the GI Bill to pay licensing and certification test fees?
You can use part of your entitlement to cover the cost, up to $2,000, of certain tests you need to take to become a licensed or certified professional.

As an active-duty service member, Veteran, or member of the Reserves, you’ll need to request your transcript from your branch of service and share it with schools. Each school then decides how many credits they’ll accept.

Are you eligible for Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) benefits?
You may be eligible for education benefits if you meet at least one of these requirements.
At least one of these must be true:
You served at least 90 days on active duty (either all at once or with breaks in service) on or after September 11, 2001, or
You received a Purple Heart on or after September 11, 2001, and were honorably discharged after any amount of service, or
You served for at least 30 continuous days (all at once, without a break in service) on or after September 11, 2001, and were honorably discharged with a service-connected disability, or
You’re a dependent child using benefits transferred by a qualifying Veteran or service member.

What an amazing woman!
Today, NCA pays tribute to the extraordinary life of 104-year old Catherine Romay Johnson Davis, a member of the famous 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion (SixTripleEight), who was laid to rest with her husband, Jerry Davis, at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Alabama. The unit received the Congressional Gold Medal in March 2022. Two of her brothers, Purcell Johnson, buried at Florida National Cemetery and Stan Johnson, 97, were Montford Point Marines making them one of the few brother and sister siblings in the history of the United States to receive Congressional Gold Medals, the nation's highest civilian award from congress. Less than 200 have been awarded since George Washington received the first one on March 25, 1776.
Romay was a remarkable woman. After her discharge from military service, she used the GI Bill of 1944 becoming a New York University multi-degree scholar, working in real estate and fashion. She traveled the world, even working as a model in New York before “retiring” in 1982. Romay and her husband, Jerry Davis, then moved to Montgomery where she stayed active over the next two decades. She found time to travel, paint, and volunteer for causes like the adoption of military families in need. At the ripe young age of 70, Romay even earned her black belt in Taekwondo. At 100, she was still working at the local Winn-Dixie in Montgomery, Alabama.
In addition to the Congressional Gold Medal, Romay was awarded the first Lifetime Achievement Award at the 10th annual Women Who Shape the State event in 2023. She was also honored by The National WWII Museum in New Orleans at its American Spirit Awards with a Silver Service Medallion, a recognition reserved for those who have served our country with distinction, in 2022.
