As USPS shipping costs continue to rise, please note that the auction prices include the cost of packaging and shipping so please take this into consideration when bidding. As always, all proceeds from our auctions go directly toward the vet bills of our rescues so please invite your family and friends to join us, as well, and enjoy a little bidding competition while helping the rescue dogs at the same time. Please be sure to check back at the end of the auction to see if you've won any items you've bid on.
We thank you for your support and happy bidding!
While only having been released from the mill last month, our most recent rescue, Ella, is doing fantastic! She's begun playing with the other dogs and has picked up a couple of toys!
It's truly heartwarming to watch a dog recently released from a puppy mill begin to come out of their shell. With each passing day, they show more curiosity and confidence. Seeing them explore, play, and learn to trust is a reminder of the resilience and love these animals can bring into our lives. Every little step forward is a victory!
We'll keep you updated on her progress!
Congratulations to Mira who has officially adopted her foster family! This tiny little girl came to us as a breeder release earlier this year from Pennsylvania. We extend our sincere appreciation to her foster family for taking her into their care when she was first released. We also extend heartfelt appreciation to Mira's sponsor, Sheree Afflerbach, for her support towards Mira's vetting while in foster care. We're thrilled that Mira has found her forever home where she has been deeply loved from day one!
Today, we remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We pay tribute to the courage of first responders, the resilience of survivors, and the enduring spirit of unity that emerged from such a profound tragedy.
We pause to remember the courageous rescue dogs of 9/11, whose bravery and dedication provided hope amidst unimaginable despair. These loyal companions worked tirelessly, their unwavering spirit a testament to their strength and compassion. As we honor their memory, let us also recognize the profound bond between humans and animals, and the extraordinary impact these dogs had on a world in crisis. Their legacy lives on, reminding us of the power of selfless service and the incredible bond that connects us all.
May we always cherish the memories of those who were taken from us and continue to stand together in the face of adversity.

Tonight, our thoughts and prayers are with our founder, Kate, as we share in the sorrow of the recent passing of Lindsay.
Lindsay came to DCAR when she was rescued from a shelter in the East Bay area of California in 2019. After Kate brought her in as a foster, she immediately made herself at home bonding with one of Kate's senior Chihuahuas and later with DCAR permanent foster, Brinley. It soon became clear that she was meant to be a part of their family.
We ask you to please keep Lindsay's family in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.

We are incredibly grateful to Susan McPherson for her generous support in sponsoring Ella while she is in foster care! Susan, your kindness helps ensure that she receives the care, comfort, and love she needs during this important transition. Your contribution not only aids in her immediate needs but also brings Ella one step closer to finding a forever home.
Thank you for being a part of her journey. Your compassion makes a world of difference!
Today, we honor Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, a special time to celebrate and remember our beloved pets who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. These cherished companions brought immense joy and love into our lives, and their memories continue to warm our hearts. May we find comfort in knowing that they are forever running free this side of heaven where pain and sorrow do not exist. Let us take a moment to reflect on the happiness they gave us and the special bond we shared. Their spirit will always be a part of us.
Please feel free to share your favorite photos and memories in the comments below. We would love to remember them with you.
Please help us welcome Ella to the DCAR family! Ella, a soon-to-be 5 year old Shih Tzu, is a recent breeder release from Pennsylvania. Ella will be available for adoption once sheโs been fully vetted. Keep an eye open for updates on this beauty!

Our friend, social media guru, and indispensable volunteer Sharyn recently lost her beloved pup, Sophie.
Sophie was rescued from a puppy mill in 2013 when she was 6 years old. She was adopted as part of a bonded pair with fellow Shih Tzu, Sara and a doggy DNA test later revealed that Sophie and Sara were actually sisters!
Please join us in sending healing thoughts to Sara, Emmie, Sharyn, and her husband as they grieve.
Another heartbreaking post as we share that Angel has followed her foster brother, Marco, across the rainbow bridge.
Angel was rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri in June of 2014. Sadly, she was so traumatized by her former life that we decided to keep her in permanent foster care.
Despite some health problems along the way, Angel lived a long, happy life and was a beloved member of her foster family.
Our thoughts are with Sandy as she copes with the grief of losing two fur babies just days apart.
Fly free Angel. ๐พ ๐
Maddie sure has been enjoying this beautiful summer! She loves long, exciting walks at the park followed by a peaceful afternoon swim in the pool. ๐
How this sweet young (sheโs only a year old!) pup hasnโt found her forever home yet is beyond us!

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of one of our longest lived forever fosters, Marco.
Marco was 8 years old when he was rescued just in time from a shelter in Irving, Texas at the end of 2013.
Due to behavioral issues, we chose to keep him in permanent foster care. We are grateful he was able to live a long, happy life with his loving foster mom, Sandy. Weโd like to thank Maryann Eidemiller for being Marcoโs sponsor these many years. We are grateful for your support!
Help us welcome our newest addition, Lexie! ๐พ
Lexie was recently rescued from a puppy mill in Pennsylvania. Sheโs an adorable Shih Tzu who turned 6 years old just last month!
As usual, this pup will be ready for adoption once sheโs been spayed and vetted. Be on the lookout for updates as Lexie adjusts to her newfound freedom and life in a loving foster home!

Our vision is for all animals to be given the opportunity to live in a peaceful environment with a warm place to rest their head, proper medical care, a full belly, and to truly know the meaning of love.
Our mission is to rescue abused or abandoned animals that otherwise would not have a chance. Most of our rescues come from puppy mills and high-kill shelters around the country.
Our organization is run entirely by a network of volunteers, so all public funds received are used directly for the rescue and care of animals in need. We typically rescue those that need us most; mill dogs at risk of being destroyed and dogs on death row in kill shelters.
We can always use your help! If you are interested in getting involved, we would love to hear from you! Please send us an email at [email protected].
