FAMILY BOND
Belinda & her son Lucas come to Waxahachie CARE to volunteer. They spend time together to bond closer & give back to our community. Today they are filling a few of the Blessing boxes around Waxahachie, TX. These 2 are involved in a number of programs we have such as filling Online orders & Homebound orders. They have been such a blessing to us & we are glad to have them as part of our team.
Ferris Heights United Methodist Church is one of our supporting churches and they have a blessing box at their church where anyone can get food at any time. Waxahachie CARE is glad to partner with them & provide food for their box. Today they also filled boxes at The Waxahachie Sun 200 N Rogers street, Oak Gardens 301 Criddle, Saint Joseph Catholic Church 609 Kaufman. They also support us at CARE. North Texas Giving Day remember us on Sept 19

Kaven a former student with Waxahachie ISD who graduated last year initially introduced himself to CARE by leading a food drive with his group the Texas Academic Decathlon. Recently he gave us a call and asked to donate some things from his present workplace. Then he offered to donate lunch to our staff & volunteers. Here is an example of a young man with a Texas sized Heart who is Always looking to give.

When David found an elderly couple in desperate need he contacted us immediately. Then as we gathered some things for them he came by & delivered the goods to them. The amazing thing is they live out of town & still David was willing. We need some good hearted people like David to help us on a daily/weekly basis. Looking for volunteers to help with working in our pantry, making pick ups & we desperately need someone with office managment type skills & experience to come join us. Seriously all of our guys are there for us weekly & committed to doing what they do. Thank you so much & Your service to us is pricless. Every now & then someone comes through with such a story we just have to share it. In the early 2000’s Stephen owned a lawn business making $40,000 per month. In 2012 he decided to hang it all up and persue a dream he had for many years. To hike the Appalachian Trail. After that he later hiked his first cross country adventure going from Miami, Florida to Oceanside, California. Since then he has hiked all over North America. Stephen a stealth camping guru appears to have no reason to hike other than he just loves to explore our country. He has sponsors helping him with back packs and other things & he depends on support from people. So glad we were able to give him food, water & a little financial support as he is in route to San Antonio, Texas. Tonight he plans on camping out somewhere around McDonald's on the south end of town in Waxahachie, Texas at Hwy 77 & I35. If you see him he is always looking for a little support and you wont find anyone more humble or appreciative. Check out his page at Stephen Ashworth (Smiley)

Its always good to attend a black tie gala event. Tonight was date night as we celebrated with Sharing Life Community Outreach who is celebrating 25 years of service.

Today we were able give a good hardy thank you to our top sponsors at our first ever Drive Out Hunger Golf tournament. Lippert - Plant 241.
Lippert has been a true partner with us going on 4 years. Interbank has been there for us many times over the years and today we thank you for your continued support. 680 lbs. of Food Donated!
The WHS Academic Decathlon Team, spearheaded by WHS senior Kaven Makitra, collected 680 lbs. of food to fill the shelves of Waxahachie Care.
The food collection boxes were spread throughout campus, and the students were enthusiastic about helping provide for families in need over the holiday break. This is the second time the Academic Decathlon Team has collected food. They also organized a collection for families in need in the weeks leading into the 2023 Spring Break.
