Look at the crazy amount of nectar on this bloom. It’s really thick, too, it barely moves when I tilt the umbel. Juicy! 🥰

Why does she make me wait?!

One of my plants has been teasing me for days with this slo-mo opening! It’s the first time I’ve bloomed this import so I’m pretty excited to see it flower, but even if I miss it…those leaves are prehistoric perfection, no?

Some hoyas don’t need to flower to show off.

I’ve really been wanting to move all of my hoyas outside for awhile this summer so I can do a much-needed deep clean of my indoor greenhouse, but some of them (like my Hoya kerrii splash here) are just so incredibly happy that I’m not sure I want to stress them with a move.

Interestingly, I’ve always read that H. Kerrii likes it cooler, or at least not hot. But this greenhouse regularly hits 95 during the day, with 80%+ humidity, and it’s constantly blooming & putting out new growth.

Other supposedly “cool” hoyas like H. polyneura are in the same greenhouse and absolutely thrilled with life.

The longer I keep hoyas the more I am inclined to trust my ability to learn from plants instead of from other collectors. I think there are just too many variables for many hard and fast rules to hold true.

One of my plants bloomed.

I’m kind of underwhelmed. For such a pretty plant…I don’t know, I guess I was expecting more?

It’s always cool to flower a hoya, though, so I’m not complaining. 💚

I love catching hoya blooms just as they’re opening…there’s something so cool about those little envelopes turning inside out and creating a flower.

If a hoya has pink splash, I have to have it. 💕

When I first got this plant, it was 3 leaves & one of them was split. The seller sent it to me with a kid’s band-aid covering it. 🩹😏

Another prehistoric-looking beauty.

This is my favorite leaf of the week! Splash, veins, contrast…it hits all the right notes. And it’s just a baby, too—Here’s hoping bigger makes it even better.

If you have this hoya, sunstress it! It gets gorgeous red and purple leaves with a line through the center of the leaf.
