Troop 146 had an incredible experience during this year's Historical Trip to Philadelphia! We embarked on a journey to the very site where Washington crossed the Delaware, wandered through the historic streets of Old Town Philadelphia, and delved into the intriguing remnants of the Eastern State Penitentiary. Our adventure was not only fun-filled but also enriched our understanding of American history.

Troop 146 hiked to the top of Talcott Mountain this weekend, where our Scouts embraced the winter chill with backpacking stoves and shared hearty meals. Hot food, shared stories, and amazing views made it a memorable experience!

Here are some winter hiking tips to keep the adventure alive:

- Use the “C-O-L-D” method to stay warm. Keep your insulating layers Clean and fluffy; avoid Overheating by dressing in layers; keep Layers loose for proper circulation; and keep Dry by avoiding clothes that absorb moisture.
- Be prepared - the more more ingredients you can mix and pre-cut the less time you will have to spend mixing and chopping in the cold.
- Stay hydrated - drink about 1 liter (32 ounces) every two hours while hiking.

Explore our winter troop camping photos and stay tuned for engaging upcoming events. Let's inspire each other to make winter camping an unforgettable experience! Share your winter camping stories and questions below!

"Amidst the hustle and bustle, the preparations, the travel, the wreaths, the cramming of so much into the Thanksgiving event itself, let's hope by taking just a few silent moments we may come to know a little bit more about how much thanks and giving are bound up in this traditional treasure!" - Ron Ward, Scoutmaster Troop 146

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
