Happy Women Veterans Day! 🇺🇸
Thankful for the service and sacrifice of all the women who have served!
We celebrate yearly on June 12, as we recognize, honors, and remembers the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, allowing women the right to permanently serve in the regular armed forces.
Women have served in America’s wars and conflicts throughout our history. They played vital roles in the Revolutionary War, serving as soldiers, raising morale and spying on the enemy. It is known that some even disguised themselves as men to be able to serve.

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
The Heroes, Hogs and Hot Rods Committee has decided to push the entire festival one day, to Sunday, June 2nd.
Sometimes in life you have to "Choose your hard."
We started this festival 5 years ago (6 including the COVID year but no one counts that) with a mission: to have a family friendly festival that helps our local veterans, and to have fun while doing it.
The initial date for the festival, Saturday June 1st, looks like there will be rain all day, cold temperatures and windy. And while the weather prediction could or could not come true, we have to make the best decision we can with the information we have.
And right now, that information says that if we did not move the event, we could be bringing all of these excellent resources and entertaining events together for nothing.
So, either we "choose the hard" of trying to have a festival in the rain, or we "choose the hard" of uplifting an entire festival in a days notice to move it one day, with the goal of again, being able to help our veterans out through a family friendly festival.
We understand if this frustrates and angers some. We understand that this may cause an inconvenience for others. But we hope you understand how much effort and love goes into this event every year, especially this one, and can give our team some grace, and support.
We are in need of volunteers in the event our current ones are unable to accommodate the switch.
We hope we can see you this Sunday, and if it doesn't rain tomorrow, we will never move for a rain day ever ever ever again. Ever.

The American Legion Glen Ellyn Post 3 is hosting this amazing opportunity, in sponsorship with the Village of Glen Ellyn and College of DuPage will host the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall from
Wednesday, May 29, to Sunday, June 2,
Parking Lot C off of Fawell Boulevard.
Featuring a 3/5 scale of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC, the display stands six feet tall and covers nearly 300 feet of space. The exhibit serves as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War and was created to help heal and rekindle friendships. It also provides access for people across the suburbs who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington DC. Community members can volunteer to maintain the grounds around the Wall and direct visitors to the location of various names by signing up in advance.

From our Board Members and Staff. Thank you to all that are currently serving!!!
Here's another hiring and resource fair! Any Veterans looking for work; these events are the best way to directly reach military friendly employers!
Last Sunday Night, myself and Bruce Mayor, Jewish War Veteran of the U.S.A., Department of Illinois Commander, went to the Israeli Consul General to the Midwest’s, Israelis Memorial Day Service for Israeli military service-members. Yinam Cohen is the Israeli Consul General and he is stationed in Chicago. This was held at Beth Hillel Synagogue in Wilmette, IL.
It was a very moving service. There were presentations, songs, videos and family members speaking about their son or daughter who were killed in the Oct 7 attack. The service wasn’t just for the Israeli’s who were killed last Oct. It was a service for all Israeli service-members killed in all wars or attacks. The service was well attended. Both myself and Bruce went to the one last year.
This was my synagogue growing up. I still go there and will be at Yom Kippur Services this year.
