Feeling the strongest urge to cover all this grown out hair… In one week it will have been a year since I’ve colored my entire head with dark color. Why I respect the opinions of others so deeply is frustrating. Or maybe the fact that I care is what’s frustrating. Either way, this has been a year of me trying to ignore my self talk instead of change it. Ignore the negativity but it’s all that I seem to hear. The unspoken and the spoken words. Ugh.. its complicated and I’ll never truly understand why people care so much about another persons color of hair, or skin, or religion, or relationship, or anything for that matter. I guess I will just keep caring about the opinions.. seems nicer.

Never trust wet hair to judge a color… dry hair can look completely different than it did wet.

9 months without full coverage color!! For 20+ years it was painful to even go 3 weeks. It’s been 9 months… of painful growth…terror, shame, support and interesting reactions. I’d like to say I don’t care what others think, but I really do. I genuinely, humanly do care about every single person I know and see. I’m learning that maybe that’s just empathy? I guess in all this growing out for 9 months, I’ve learned more about myself than just what the
color of my hair is. It’s finally starting to feel like my hair! Thanks to my emotional support sister for always being there when I need a splash of color or toner. Because the other side of this is that it’s been a total experiment. Don’t be mistaken, this has not been 9 moths of hair color neglect. There has been a significant amount of learning to color unpigmented hair ***for anyone interested in learning more about growing out your natural color, I’m happy to answer questions.

About me: I’ve been a stylist for almost 21yrs. Worked for salons in Minnesota and New York. My husband is a teacher/coach and I’ve been with him longer than I’ve been a stylist. We have 3 kids, a cat and a dog. We recently moved within walking distance of my salon!! This is so exciting for me because I can do what I love, close to the ones I love. I often get visits from my family when at work. When I’m not at the salon, I’m usually with my family at sporting events or traveling. I love to color and cut and style for events. My style is typically on trend and low maintenance when it comes to womens hair. I’m always up for a challenge and love making people feel confident with a new look or maintaining a great style. Always taking new clients and I typically book out at least a month in advance. Im currently taking on a challenge of my own and embracing my natural color.
