If anyone on your staff has experienced a suicidal situation, consider registering for the free Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on Aug 1 and 2. This 2-day interactive workshop teaches participants su***de first-aid, including being able to recognize when someone may be having thoughts of su***de, and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.

ASIST Training August 2024 | MHASCK Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day workshop that teaches participants to carry out life-saving interventions for people at risk of su***de.

Only 40% of people living with a diagnosable mental illness in Wichita seek and receive care each year. Sounds bad, right? Yet when narrowed to only substance use disorders, that number drops to 10%. Ashley is one of our newest Therapists here at MHA, though she's not entirely new to the agency. She interned with us in the past and after a few years in private practice, realized that she missed the family atmosphere and great people she worked with here.

Ashley grew up in Derby, and her family is still in the area supporting her though her Social Work major and Masters degree at WSU. She specializes in some of the most innovative ways of treating trauma, and is well-trained in both Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapies.

She loves a good farmers market, and spends her time volunteering with causes in the area, though always thinking of a dream vacation to Vegas someday. We are honored to have her back at MHA!

We have been issued a challenge grant, folks! The Downtown Wichita Kiwanis Club has sponsored our 2024 Beautiful Minds Gala and requested the funds to go specifically to support our Children's programs in the Prevention division. And they are issuing it as a matching grant in an effort to bring in even more money for these vital programs!
