Who wants to join me in my first Half Marathon next month?? Wilmington is gorgeous in the fall.
Aparigraha
On the way home yesterday I had a longer layover in Atlanta so I went to grab some lunch. The system was down at the place I chose and not accepting cards or anything but cash. Checking my wallet I saw that I had enough money on me to get the bowl I wanted plus some chips and guacamole and a drink. All right! Then as I got closer to the front they announced they were now only taking exact change. They were out of ones and could give back only coins.
My order now devolved to no drink. No chips or guac. Only a veggie bowl.
I was frustrated - I really wanted those chips! My grasping extended all the way to check out where I sheepishly asked if they wanted to maybe just give me a bag of chips seeming as I didn’t have exact change for them. (Cringe.) It took until I was away from the counter and had sated my hunger before I was able to reflect and view the experience as a chance to practice aparigraha or non-attachment.
Not only did I need to let go of my attachment to the idea of the meal I wanted but I had to reevaluate my understanding of “enough.” What was enough for me at lunch today? It turns out a veggie bowl and my water bottle were plenty. And bonus - the bowl came with guacamole showing the unexpected boons that come with appreciating what you are given.
In what ways are you holding onto the idea of something and valuing that above your true need? What are you consuming keeping or giving to others that is above and beyond what truly brings you joy or utility? How do you evaluate a need vs a want and when are the things you think you need taking more time and causing more stress than they are giving you back time or giving you pleasure?
This Sunday @12 you have an opportunity to practice aparigraha on the mat with me - I hope to see you there.
This Sunday come flow with us as we focus on non-attachment or aparigraha. Especially as we head into this season of shopping and giving, it’s timely to take a moment (or 60 minutes of them) to reflect on how non-attachment might enrich your life even more than the hot Black Friday sale deal.

I have a month long sabbatical coming up and feel drawn towards a trip in early spring. My initial idea isn’t panning out so putting this out to the universe and to you all for inspiration and suggestions.
Looking for something overseas with a strong spiritual component. I want temples, chanting, and the sacred to permeate. I want nature and authenticity and yoga. Divinity and every day and animals. Know something like this? Looking for personal recommendations that you or someone you know have been on before. Drop me a DM 🛕🪷🧘♀️
The great mystical poet Hafiz is sometimes called Tongue of the Invisible because his poems speak as if beautiful love songs from God to His beloved world. His intoxication with the magic and beauty pulsating around us becomes our intoxication of the same.
Don’t fight it. Let yourself fall into his language of love, immersed in awestruck wonder at the opening of a flower, at the burst of color that appears like magic from the sky each dusk and dawn. 🌅
Feel every moment of this achingly tender world. Then share it out.
What is your go-to plant-based milk? I’m team almond milk all the way 🙌 Because of my gluten sensitivity I keep clear of oat milk although my barista child says it froths the best .
I also recently tried making flax milk at home, and despite soaking 2 nights and rinsing first, I could not get the gelatinous texture away. As my SO said after sampling it “It tastes like glue!”
Any tips for homemade flax milk I may like??

This is the second year I’ve taken part in the manifesting challenge but the first time I’ve truly heard the message. I’ve been a follower of Gabby’s for several years now but it was my recent work with that reintroduced me to the power and impact of her teachings. Every morning this month you’ll find me cozied up in my yoga study space surrounded by books on mudra, asana, Ayurveda and myth. I’ll light a candle and listen to the day’s teaching followed by journaling and meditation. Join me in creating the reality you want by surrendering and getting out of your own way. Step into your super attractor truth this year! 🌈🍀 There is still time to join the challenge through tonight. And if you miss the sign up, her book Super Attractor will change how you approach each day, relationship, and your understanding of how supported and loved we all are. Has anyone else taken her course before or now? What are your manifesting goals this year?
I am taking advantage of this warm weathered “Cold moon” by making moon tea. Pour just barely boiling water over your favorite herbal mixture then set out overnight to steep under the moon. Miss Thursday night’s full moon? No problemo - there should be several nights this week with enough moonlight. How are you celebrating?🌝 Herb blend from
It’s the season of thankfulness and gratitude is in the air. You may be gathering with family or friends this week to share what specifically you are thankful for, and it’s important to stop and recognize the specific blessings in our life. But thankfulness is most often a reaction to a specific set of (positive) circumstances. We get a promotion or a birthday gift or find no traffic on a normally busy drive. What happens though when the opposite is true? Someone forgets your birthday, you get let go from your job, your car breaks down? That is where Santosha comes in. Santosha is one of the Niyamas of Ashtanga yoga an ever-present, underlying contentment with life that surpasses just positive events. It’s there for you regardless of circumstance. Cultivating this contentment is like building a raft for you to travel down the river of life. It’s dependable and is built choice by choice each time you turn to inner satisfaction over outer circumstance. So count your blessings today and be grateful for the good in your life, it also be content tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow.
