In answer to when I will open my practice, know that I am watching these graphs, particularly the graph of North Carolina, and waiting for the color of our line to be green. The governor may tell me I can open Vibrant Being while the graphs are still yellow, or heaven help us, red, but that doesn't mean that I will feel it is safe for you to work with me yet. https://www.endcoronavirus.org/states
US States beating Covid-19 — EndCoronavirus.org Don’t wait for “more data” or results from complicated models. It isn’t too late to start now. The earlier you act, the earlier things can go back to normal.
For all of us who miss massage - and believe me, I include myself in that group - I offer you this creative solution! I have a cat who occasionally curls up behind my head and massages my shoulders, but this bison takes it to a whole new level. Anyone have access to some goats?
So what is your massage therapist doing with all this down time besides watching my nails grow? I have been sewing face masks for medical professionals with Project Mask WS. We have collectively made and distributed 6,888 masks so far and have about 5,000 more requests to fill at present. If you have a sewing machine and time on your hands and you want to make a difference - like I do - check out the Project Mask WS page. The three local women who started this effort are organizational superheroes and will guide you through every step!
Because massage, by it's nature, requires closer contact than six feet, I am temporarily closing my practice until it is safe and healthy to re-open. I am so looking forward to that day! Tracy Walton expresses my feelings - and the feelings of other massage therapists, I'm sure - beautifully.
COVID-19 and Closing – What do Love and Bicycles Have to Do with It? - Tracy Walton & Associates I bought a used bicycle for the pandemic. It’s a ridiculous thing to say, but hear me out. Why I chose to spend the weekend on craigslist>forsale>bikes before holing up for weeks is a long story. Cycling with friends is a perfect socially distant activity. Love cycling and have biked seriously lon...

Since I took my training in Oncology Massage and began working with clients who have cancer, I've been asked if massage therapy can help with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuraopathy. The prevailing wisdom had been that no, it is unlikely to help. But some new research is out that it may help after all. Stay tuned!

Massage Therapy May Reduce Chemo-induced Peripheral Neuropathy Massage therapy may reduce peripheral neuropathy symptoms among patients receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy.
I was providing massage for a women's retreat in Sedona, Arizona last week. On the "redeye" flight on the way home, I was reminded that jet lag can be reduced or eliminated if you stimulate the accupressure points from the meridian system that correspond to the time of day at your destination. I gave it a try, and had a really smooth re-entry to East coast time. Here's an article with more details. If you travel a lot, especially from west to east, it might be worth printing out and tucking in your suitcase!

I have tried to create a peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing atmosphere for massage in my office, but it pales in comparison to where I was working yesterday! I was providing massage for a women's retreat under a screened canopy tent in the woods near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Partway into my second massage of the day, two deer bounded past. Now THAT'S a work atmosphere!
I work with a number of clients who have plantar fasciitis, and part of my approach is to treat the calf muscles. This article describes why, and offers some yoga poses that support the work. Good information to prevent this disorder from coming back!
