"World AIDS Day 35: Remember and CommitWorld AIDS Day
Forsyth County Department of Public Health is partnering with Galilee Missionary Baptist Church for a testing event in honor of World AIDS Day on Friday, Dec. 1 from 2-4 p.m. at Food Lion, 1499 New Walkertown Road.
The event will include free testing for HIV and STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) and educational resources on STI prevention by Forsyth Public Health’s POSSE Health program. There will also be gift card giveaways for participants while supplies last.
Both organizations hope to raise awareness about the importance of regular testing and staying informed about HIV and other STIs.
The final Medicaid Expansion Townhall is on Nov. 29, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Central Library, 660 W 5th St.
It'll cover who is eligible for Medicaid Expansion and how to apply.
Medicaid Expansion begins December 1 and opens up eligibility to individuals and families ages 19-64 that didn’t previously qualify who meet the income and citizenship criteria. Current beneficiaries with full Medicaid coverage won’t see changes to their coverage.

Enrollment time is HERE! The Adolescent Health Programs are enrolling preteens and teens for the January - June 2024 program cycle! Flourish & M3 will be held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Unify will be held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 4:30 p.m.-6:30pm. Enrollment forms along with transportation waivers can be found on the County website under "Teen Services" during the enrollment period. All forms will need to be submitted via physical copy or scanned into the Adolescent Health Coordinator. Forsyth County will hold another Resource Fair with the Winston-Salem Transit Authority on Nov. 1 from 1-4 p.m. at the downtown bus station. There will be a Drive-Thru Drop-Off Med Disposal Event at Bolton Elementary on Saturday, 1250 Bolton St, on Oct. 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. You can safely dispose of unused or expired medications including prescriptions, over-the-counter medication, pet medications and sharp products like devices with a needle.
The Third Annual Forsyth Fun Fest will be Saturday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at 799 N. Highland Avenue in Winston-Salem. It'll feature free food, music and a job fair.
The event will also feature games, raffles, voter registration, music, kids' activities, COVID and Flu vaccinations, STD testing, fire truck tour, ambulance tour, sheriff vehicle display, information on benefits and services, and more!
The Fun Fest is an opportunity for Forsyth County Government to connect with the community and for residents to learn about county services, some of which will be offered at the event.
There are now six Certified Healthy Stores in Forsyth County.! These stores are located in food deserts and allow residents to have access to healthy, affordable foods. The participating stores also receive free produce from Take What You Need, a program that involves a community garden that donates all the food it produces.

October is Safe Sleep month and Forsyth County Department of Public Health is taking the . This activity uses competition to teach everyone what a safe sleep environment looks like. The participants get 10 seconds to clear the crib of all clutter but leave in the acceptable item(s).
