Bookmarks is a literary arts nonprofit and independent bookstore in downtown Winston-Salem, NC.
Bookmarks connects authors with readers in an annual Festival of Books and Authors, an Authors in Schools program, and a series of Author Talks

On Saturday from 2-6 pm, you can donate your gently used books to support our upcoming used book sale! Bring any amount of books to our warehouse at 1001 Marshall St. (next to Cobblestone Farmers' Market).
Bookmarks is happy to provide donors with a receipt for their in-kind gift of used books for the purpose of reselling them. Thanks to the support from Cobblestone Farmers Market for allowing us to use their warehouse space!
The Secondhand Story - Used Book Sale will be held on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28. We are grateful to our friends at Pinnacle for supporting this program! All of the proceeds from the sale will go towards Bookmarks' outreach programs focused on cultivating community and increasing access to books for all.

We are counting down to our 7th birthday on Sunday, July 7! All week we will be sharing fun facts, memories from the last 7 years, and more.
Throughout the past 7 years, we have cultivated a collection of books to educate, inspire, challenge, and entertain readers of all ages. With 16,321 unique titles, we are focused on amplifying the voices of authors who reflect the diversity of our community and the richness and complexity of the human experience.
The bookstore is currently closed for renovations and will reopen on Saturday. On Sunday, for our birthday celebration, the first 7 customers who come in and make a donation or purchase will receive a tote with 7 galleys! If you purchase 7 books, you can get a Bookmarks water bottle or travel mug for 50% off! To keep the party going, we will offer 7% off our best-sellers each year we've been open till the end of July (check out the list in the past post).
We cannot wait to celebrate with you this weekend!

FRIDAY at 7 pm - Book Trivia at the bookstore. You and your team will be tested on all things books and authors from bestsellers to the classics. Everyone is welcome!

SUNDAY at 3 pm - The Healing Pen Presents: Healing Through Journaling Workshop with Veronica Smith is a six-session workshop geared towards adults. Each session is $25. Schools in Winston-Salem give out free books to promote literacy over the summer, thanks to Bookmarks and Love Literacy Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is partnering with Bookmarks and Love Literacy to bring the Staycation initiative to 16 elementary schools.
We are grateful to be a part of the Stacycation summer reading project with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and Love Literacy! There were 16 no-cost book fairs to get students excited for summer reading.
Schools in Winston-Salem give out free books to promote literacy over the summer, thanks to Bookmarks and Love Literacy Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is partnering with Bookmarks and Love Literacy to bring the Staycation initiative to 16 elementary schools.
We are so grateful to have worked with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and Love Literacy on this project!

Join Bookmarks and Foothills Brewing for the Summer Book Club Social on Tuesday, June 25 at 6:30 pm!
This is a great opportunity for book clubs to find their next read, for readers to create a stellar to-be-read list for the summer, and for people to get connected to book clubs. This event is presented with support from Sourcebooks and is sponsored by Foothills.
A representative from Sourcebooks will recommend a variety of books from different genres that are perfect book club reads. Authors Eva Jurczyk, Shauna Robinson, and Meagan Church will speak about their newest novels, followed by a Q&A session and a booksigning at Bookmarks.
Tickets are $25 (plus taxes & fees) and include your drink of choice at Footnote (up to a $10 value), dessert, tote bag, and galleys from Sourcebooks, as well as entrance to the event. Attendees will also receive the book club discount of 20% off purchases made that night.
